Given RP and Kucinich's marginalization from true right/left principle minded folks, waaaaaayy too many vote on personality.

I am sure McSame followers do NOT choose personality, because he lacks one, and Palin reminds me of a snippy little school kid, used to getting her own way all the time.

I think people vote in line with their party. It's like a sporting event. A lot of people will root for their home team when it comes to the Super Bowl, Stanely Cup, etc even if they haven't watch a single season game.

No, I think there's a large percentage of people who are ignorant enough to vote for someone who is like them.

I don't want a president I can relate to or have a beer with. I want my president to be smarter than me. Heck, I went to a better college than Palin did and I don't think I should be VP. And the only reason McCain got the nomination is because everyone else dropped out one by one. I don't think an overwhelming majority of Republicans voted for him.

Policies.....that's why if the election was today I wouldn't be voting. Sure I could just Google the candidates positions, print them up, read it and then vote....but then what the hell is the point of campaigning?

Well, I know that I'm educated enough to have a beer with the President and let him/her know where I stand on issues. If my President thinks he's better than me because of his/her position, then I think I'd have an issue with that. I don't believe where we went to school or how much money we grew up with has anything to do with who picks us to work with them. That in my opinion is prestige over ability. It's about strategy that these parties operate, have done for centuries and will keep on doing business this way. It's up to the American people to choose who they think will do a better job than the last.
