I do recall that, in the New Testament it is said we are all God's children, to love all creatures, how was that translation lost in these extremist, snake charming, hate-preaching type churches? How do they justify their hatred/intolerance of others?
I do know where I presently live a pastor approached me-lol- it is like a cult and all he wanted was money......
It also says there is a way that looks right to man, but leads to destruction. It says Lucifer appears as an angel of light and will mislead many.
Some of these churches that call themselves Christian seem more like VooDoo to me.
Not to disrespect VooDoo. I know less of them than I do this stuff -
but Wiccans don't act strangely, like some Pentecostals do.

I agree. It seems extreme. I knew someone in S Florida who was Wiccan, she would have been alot better than Palin, and I would trust her, lol, she had experience.

I think the non-denominational churches preach more love and tolerance than AOG does. We even had our own version of the girl scouts called Missionettes. Everyone was to be in the world and not of it. Separating yourself from nonbelievers was a way to keep sin from infiltrating your life.
I used to be a fundie.
I think now, it was not sin they were afraid of, it was REALITY.
They are very nice people, but the teachings, as candy coated as they sounded, were very exclusive and judgmental. I really think that much of what passes as religion there creates unhealthy minds and dysfunctional families.
It is harder to start a family with both parties being equal, and not the woman as follower, but once you get over that hurdle, the woman actually becomes her own person, gets her legs so to speak, she can then really lift her own weight and really becomes a helpmate, equal with the man. Otherwise she is apt to be a house cleaner, mealmaker, etc.
A woman should never feel stifled in her marriage. She cannot really contribute to the relationship if she is not her whole self. Often, a man marries a woman who defers to him and later on finds that he does not respect her. Neither feels fulfilled in the relationship because they are conditioned to fit a prototype that is not natural.
They both end up unhappy and in that situation it is easy to think the grass is greener on the other side, so they stray.
There is a reason why the bible belt has the most divorces in the country. It is built into the culture.
The sad thing is, I think many of these people, if they could get rid of those prototypes, might really be able to get along with each other.
If you are not honest about who you are, how can you bring honesty into a relationship?
Sorry for the tangent.
I am not implying that Sarah is this type of person. I don't know her.
