You hit it right on the head.
There are Hindus, Muslems, etc, who are just decent people,
but there are also extremes and cults in these religions.

There is danger when we don't know enough about each other's religions, to take the kooks as typical, because it's the kooks who usually make the news.

You've seen this?????

I have known some and none has said they've done this. Lucky you.

UCC is a Protestant branch, not a Pentacostal branch.

LOL, again...

You didn't bother even googling it to see if you were right did you?

UCC is not Pentecostal.

United Church of Christ isn't generally Pentecostal, although some individual congregations might be. They're extremely liberal in just about every way. From what I can tell, they're accepting of many different things, much more so than other denominations.
Just stating this matter-of-factly, not good or bad.

They DID cover it, silly.
You must have been attending the Republican re-indoctrination class that month, and missed it.

They are nothing alike.
I think the pastor had a BIG voice, which I don't like.
I think the pastor made some GOOD points but expressed them poorly AND too loudly and, to my mind, should have been expressed as personal opinions and not at a worship meeting.
Albeit, I forgive all that because that church was very active in things like feeding the poor.

I think Sarah standing in front of her congregation and asking them to pray for the pipeline is ludicrous.
This is like praying for wealth in church.
One cannot worship both God and Mammon, remember?
Speaking in tongues, frankly, reminds me of demon possession.
I find her church scary and weird.
And silly.

All religions are, from a purely logical standpoint, a little weird.

But only certain ones demand one prostyletize.

Ya think?

Yes, my folks sent me to a fundie church.
When I was a kid had a Jewish girlfriend in school - she seemed smarter than the others.
One Sunday my church told me Catholics worshipped statues and they were borderline, but Jews did not accept Jesus and were going to hell.

I started buying the Sunday funnies with my church money and brought my radio and would hang out in the park on Sundays.

One day the Sunday School teacher came to our house. Then, I told my parents why I felt uncomfortable going, and, Lord be praised, they told me I did not have to go!!!!! Right in front of the teacher.

Hallelujah, free at last!!!!!

These people are mostly very well intentioned and sincere, but are brainwashed and do not function in the same reality. They seem normal until you hit on a 'teaching', then you think, while talking to them, that you've entered an alternate reality.

I think they can be dangerous and would not vote for one.
