I asked a friend of mine what he thought of her and he said "redneck white trash" without a moment's hesitation. I wouldn't go that far, but I do not think she's ready to be VP.
Dude, I'm sorry; it's a lot of words. Do you take ritalin? I could bullet point it for you if it'd help.
Simple bullet points:
- "Gods plan", per Palin, is it is ok to attack Iraq
- Mullah's god's plan tells them it is ok to attack US
Which god do you trust?
Or do you think both Palin-like people and Mullahs are delusional?
Or both these people (in direct communication with god) think their constituents are so stupid that they will buy this and give them power
I know what she is saying. I get it. She is saying that she hopes that the plans that were made (if they were made) are going in the right track and are "right" (also known as God's plan).
I don't think that she should have said it but she was in a church so I get it.
What makes this speech (it isn't a prayer) disconcerting for me is that she is equating right with Godly. She's done this on other occasions. I know that people like to pretend that this is a Christian country but we are a country of many religions (and some actually don't have a religion or believe in God). It makes me uncomfortable, as a Christian, for her to equate everything good with God. Sometimes good things are just good things and may not be sanctioned by God.
If God influences every choice that you make, fine, keep it to yourself. Because I know that every voice or feeling that comes to people isn't from God and if you are listening to every voice in your head thinking it's God without more thought, that is troublesome.
And sometimes what the gods do is not "right". Like when Hera turned Io into a cow .

Bazactly.
Everyone is not monotheistic. There are a lot of assumptions made in the use of God. The line has already become blurred with this last ridiculous president. Let's get back to a silent faith when it comes to governing others.
I'm really looking forward to the end of this election. Thankfully, we'll end up with the man GOD wants in office, otherwise he wouldn't be there, right?
Point 1: If that is true for now, then it had to be true in the past. I just can't believe that "The W" was a divine choice for president.
or
Point 2: To assume that whatever leader takes office, is there because God wants him there ... means that this is the case for every nation, as I doubt God places America over the rest of his created world. So, does that mean every world leader (even the ones we disagree with) is there because God wants them there? Of couse, that would take a very mature perspective that God is God of us ALL and not just God of America ... right?
or
Point 3: If we are assuming that our leader will be who God wants because we are a democracy or a Christian nation ... is to say that God favors democracy over all other forms of government (which I doubt, or doubt he/it would even stoop to that human level) and that he is oblivious to the overly-sinful nation we have become (as a whole).
For what it's worth, I can actually see point 2 being true, only if we are to believe that everything happens for a master plan in this world (which I am unsure of, myself ... but don't rule it out). But I just had to point out the naiveness of that bolded statement above.
"Sarah Palin on God:
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.
GIBSON: Exact words."
How many people truly believe that Iraq is a task from God?
But she said it BEFORE she was the VP nominee. So, she meant it was a task from God before she meant it wasn't.
