(CNN) -- President Obama on Wednesday will talk about new guidelines aimed at cutting down the number of earmarks in appropriations legislation, one day after the Senate passed a spending bill with nearly 9,000 earmarks, his administration said.

Some lawmakers have urged Obama to veto the $410 billion omnibus spending bill -- saying it goes against the president's campaign pledge to bring an end to wasteful spending.-------------------

Obama may sign the bill into law behind closed doors rather than make a public show of it, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said.

So now signing behind closed doors to hide from the fact that he again broke a campaign promiss and to sneak out after getting all the pork on our plate! What a disappointment this man is...more than I ever could have imagined!!!

there probably won't be many replies to this post because what can you really say about someone who says one thing and does another? obama could certainly be seen in a better light if he would veto the pork and focus on spending which would create jobs instead. there are not enough jobs created in this bill and you absolutely cannot get the economy back on track without creating jobs. the government cannot function without taxes from working americans, while non-working americans (and illegal immigrants) are a financial drain on the economy instead.

Well, let's see. You all seemingly don't know that the omnibus bill is not a stimilus bill, but the federal budget for the rest of FY 2009. You seemingly have no actual definition for what "pork" is...it's just some word you like to throw around. You clearly have no idea what an earmark actually is, or what Obama has promised and not promised with respect to them. Other than that, you all are right one the mark here...

I thought right-wingers were completely irrational during the Bush administration. Obama is making them look like they were bastions of insightful thinking back in those days. New frontiers in La-La Land are being discovered every day. Way to go, guys.

Meanwhile, just as he promised he would do during the campaign and since the election YOUR President will be laying out his ideas for ways in which the Congress can put the earmark process onto better and more transparent ground. Earmarks are a legislative matter so he doesn't have any final say, but he can set targets and objectives that he thinks those on the hill should pursue. We'll see how that works out, your guys random complaints about whatever happens as the result being duly ignored and discarded along the way. Make yourselves irrelevant and that is what you will be...

And proposals for earmark reform are exactly what you'll get. Let's hear it for Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) and his $800K for oyster rehabilitation and $380K for walkways in Tarrant, AL. He has 62 others as well for a total of $114 million. Now maybe every single one of those is a legit move to address a real problem. But we should be able to know whether that is the case or not, and the President will lay out some ideas for how that might be accomplished...

Would this be Mr President Obama's plan and that he has read ALL of the earmarks, or is this Ms.(President in hiding) Pelousi's plan??

This is a joke and seems like Mr. President is off vacationing and having concerts, to be too concerned about the earmarks, he has put his trust in the likes of Harry Reid and Nancy (ruin America) Pelousi!!

Give banks money with no rules or regulations this was...... STUPID.

As the dow drops and drops Mr. President encourages Americans to by stock, this is just as bad, as Mr. President Bush telling us to spend, spend and spend while our children are dying and at war in Iraq and Afganstian we should just shop!!!

What kind of American concept is this????
