I think this was McCain's biggest mistake. Mike Huckabee had huge support among evangelicals and conservative republicans. He also has more experience as governor than Sarah Palin and has no problem aswering questions from reporters. As a democrat I would have been more scared if he had selected Mike Huckabee than anyone else. If he had done that, some of of these southern states like North Carolina and Virginia may not be as close. Mike has the charisma to strenthen the GOP ticket.

If I were like my mom who votes based on personality (not proud of this, but this is why she's voting for McCain/Palin,) I think Huckabee has a great personality. And, I admire him for having lost all the weight he lost. But, alas, I vote based on issues, so based on that, I wouldn't have voted for McCain/Huckabee.

And an unfailing ability to iterate common sense.

He could still pick Huckabee. Palin is a liability to the ticket and I wouldn't be surprised if she drops out.

Mike Huckabee was his own worst enemy. When he didnt have a clue as to what was happening in the world he ad-libbed, and it always would bite him in the arse.

Most people are their own worst enemies in this party it seems, they are always making absurd claims and then trying to spin them. Huckabee, however, was the best choice for Veep that McCain had. No doubt about that. Huckabee at least won a primary in the race for GOP nomination.

McCain's biggest mistake was believing that he is sane enough to be President.
