Oh I see, they persuaded him. Hmmm. Keating was a ARIZONA businessman.
Seems Cindy was knee-deep in this scandal as well... Did the Dems persuade her as well?
From earlier post...

In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.

Wise up, he was dirty then, and he is still dirty. He can't run from this...

Remember Neil Bush was caught up in that scandal as well...

Neil Bush got his wrists slapped and the Republicans paid for his mistakes. Had you or I did what he did, we would be in a federal prison.

I agree about Wikipedia. I do not use that as a good source.

You people really are hooked on stoopid. Hopefully McCain learned his lesson.

Yes, that lesson is about greed.

How can you say it is over? We are currently in a horrific financial crisis, that is directly related to Johnny's need to DEREGULATE. He was the closest of the FIVE to Keating. In fact Cindy even profited from the involvement with Keating.

The Keating scandal was just the Dems up to their usual corrupt tricks, so let the truth come out!!!

"Robert Bennett, Senate Ethics Committee lawyer who investigated McCain in the Keating 5 hearings says:
"First, I should tell your listeners I'm a registered Democrat, so I'm not on (McCain's) side of a lot of issues. But I investigated John McCain for a year and a half, at least, when I was special counsel to the Senate Ethics Committee in the Keating Five. ... And if there is one thing I am absolutely confident of, it is John McCain is an honest man. I recommended to the Senate Ethics Committee that he be cut out of the case, that there was no evidence against him."

and...

"At the completion of my investigation, I filed my report with the committee. I recommended that no further action be taken against Senators McCain and Glenn principally because once they learned that there was a criminal referral, they stopped aggressively doing Keating's bidding with the regulators."

"After reviewing my report, the committee voted on October 23, 1990, to hold a public adjudicatory fact-finding hearing in the matter as to all five senators. This was perhaps the first time the recommendation of a special counsel not to charge a senator was rejected. This was pure politics as the Democrats on the committee did not want to cut McCain loose so that only Democrats would remain in the proceedings. If Senator McCain was not going to be cut loose, in retaliation the Republicans were going to keep Senator Glenn in the proceedings. McCain was the victim of politics, and poor Glenn was held captive to the decision on McCain. So much for nonpartisanship."

"Although the public airing of the factual details helped confirm why Senators McCain and Glenn should be exonerated of ethics charges, it hurt DeConcini, Cranston, and Riegle (all Democrats)."

Lol, Obama's camp has been holding back on this because they knew eventually Barry's history of running around with terrorists would catch up with him.

Admit Bamabots, your guy is a shady, empty suit. The complicity media can only pretend to not notice his questionable ties for so long. Now they will have to discuss it, even though they are all already trying to cover up for him so much that its pathetic.

Admit it, little McBush-ites, your guy is a fear monger, and neocon who wants wars in every country. He has so many questionable ties and questionable characteristics the media didn't cover. He is mentally unstable, prone to sudden temper, one of the corrupt Keating 5 that cost the US billions, flip-flopper, taxpayer money wasting warmonger, lying cheater, bush worshiping, plane crashing, computer illiterate, graduate bottom of class, $500 shoes elitist who thinks the middle class are folks with just under $5million, recipient of the $84million welfare campaigning, and a wife dumper so as to marry into money (an original millionaire gigolo), and he chose a far right wing nutjob, a pro creationism in schools idiot, anti-women, a bush clone with lipstick candidate for VP.

If this corrupt Keating 5 POS wins, we will see more of our money go to more wars, bigger wars, lengthier wars ... all tasks from God of course.

Neocon + nutjob never turn our correct, didn't Bush tell us that already? No to Bush III.
