Why would it upset anyone voting for Obama? It seems to me that the people who should be aggravated are the ones who have tried to steal religion and family from the Democrats - the "moral majority" or "silent majority" or "religious right" or whatever they would like to be called. A person can be religious and Democrat, spiritual and Democrat, family-oriented and Democrat - or even *gasp* religious, family-oriented, AND Democrat.
It has already worked with more than a few religious people who I am friends with. I have had more than one conversation with some of my friends who identify as Evangelical who have become outspoken critiques of the idea that right-wing politics are an accurate expression of their religious beliefs. In fact, if anything, I think more and more Christians are realizing exactly why the separation of church and state is such a good thing.
Asked by Rick Warren to define marriage, Obama said:
“I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.”
I'm Catholic, and will vote for Obama. Actually all of my family is too. A lot of people just don't vote on one single issue, and vote on the total picture.

People misunderstand the meaning of separation of church and state. All it means is that the government will not dictate that people have to follow one religion; everyone is free to worship as they choose. It doesn't mean "keep politics and religion separate."
I watched the saddleback forum, and while I found Obama's performance on that forum occasionally meandering and halting and not as strong as I would have liked, I felt that he answered the majority of the questions asked (with the exception of his poor answer to the abortion question) thoughtfully, as one has spent some time thinking about the issues brought up.

Yes. Let's not forget that "life" is not just abortion. Catholics aren't just looking at abortion; we are looking at war and lack of health care and so on. Neither candidate is truly "pro-life," so there is much to weigh.
