I think you're giving it too much credit. Huff & Puff has regular grave dancing parties whenever a Conservative passes away. Tabloids at least maintain the appearance of actual reporting.

Here is another cautionary article in LA Times in the same vein as the OP.
Underestimate Palin at your own risk, former rivals say - Los Angeles Times

I think the damage is done at this point...Even if she holds her own at this debate, I think the entire country has seen what kind of leadership she would offer...and we are not interested,,, Thank God!

We are all smart people and we all now know this debate is fluffed because she is incompetent and can not deal. I think she is aware that she is out of her league. If this lady spells 'and' right she will declare a victory...

My guess is most independents will agree with Cafferty's sentiment that she is 1 heartbeat (of a 73 yr old) away from presidency. They know the last 8 years did not turn out well and McCain is no outsider. The economy will decide the elections whereas the VP debates will improve SNL ratings.

I think as long as she doesn't literally fall on her face or start crying- people will all be talking about how much better she did than they expected. Whether she "wins" or not is inconsequential. Remember: George W. Bush "lost" his debates to Gore, but in the eyes of much of the public, he won.
I think she is going to be terrible, but she'll probably spew plenty of catch phrases and that's what Americans in general remember.

I think it's insulting to have a woman like that be the first VP. And if any woman tries to run again as President or VP, she will be the one that is referred, which is actually hurting woman's progress.

I totally agree. Can you imagine if Sarah Palin was ugly? Like what if she said exactly the same things she says now but she was fat and homely? It wouldn't happen. The superficiality of this choice is mind-boggling.

It is also insulting to the Republicans that this is was their best foot forward. She is swinging independents away from McCain - a precious few percentage points is all Obama needs. Besides, the situations she will face during her possible presidency will not neatly fit into the index cards she is learning from now.
