This is sad, and embarrasing, from someone who lives in Ohio. Everytime I go to downtown cleveland I can't help but notice some bum sleeping on the ground, begging for change or money, hearing about murders or fights, and these people are going to the polls. How embarrasing!!!

Just so you know, the whole state of Ohio isn't like this.

And it would be a travesty if they AREN'T Americans or are convicted felons and the socialist party recruits them for a pack of Newports and a bottle of Richards.

You really sound like an elitist.

Why not be a human being and buy one of these guys a lunch one day?

More paranoia. Where's your proof that this has ever happened? And if people were in fact "bribed" into voting, how the hell are you imagining that those manning the booths allowed the "socialists" (LOL) to go in with these smoking homeless to force them to vote Democrat?

The fact is, that will NEVER happen. I have already experienced that crap in my home town. Not only did this so "concerned" groups take the "homless" to vote, you know, beacuse it was their right and all. I have seen two abuses in these situations. One was a group who went and picked up some homless, told them they would buy them a meal and beer if they voted for said canidate.

The other was a self proclaimed "we just want to see people get their rights" who picked up homless in a van with their canidates slogans all over it and while they didn't tell them how to vote, they talked about politics along the way which oddly was tainted in the benefit of the person they supported.

Seriously, its garbage. If I had a dime for as many times I have heard someone who said they cared who was lying through their teeth, even GOD would have trouble matching my income. Its nothing short, as I said, a joke, a scam, more garbage.

You may honestly believe it, but I am telling you it is ALWAYS nothing more than an attempt to "gain more votes for a side". Seriously DC, I know you aren't that naive, you can't really think this is a "good thing" as it is?
Once again, just because you've fallen on hard times, and are living on the streets, does NOT mean you are a mindless puppet. We are deluged with propaganda about who to vote for. If you are homeless, maybe you haven't been exposed to all the television commercials and the news blurbs. If riding in a car with someone who is partisan is going to have that much impact, then the Republicans have just as much an opportunity as Democrats to get these votes.

I'm sorry you can't believe that people really do care. People may have different beliefs than I do, and different agendas. There are people who invite me to their homes for dinner, but when I get there they have someone "real nice" they want me to meet. An agenda, but it's not like they don't believe they are trying to help. There are people who've invited me to an evening of Trivial Pursuit, but they really want to save my soul. Good intentions, if misplaced.

You've been posting in the hopes of persuading people that your position is right. My posts don't disagree with yours. Neither of us is the big, bad boogeyman. We are Americans, during a close electoral race, arguing with others and refining our own arguments. The people reading our posts have been adding to the discussion, or even just thinking about them. They aren't zombies looking for the magic word, and then marching down to the polls to vote a particular way because we told them to, and homeless people, even if they are drug addicts or mentally ill, can be intelligent, thoughtful people. I know, I've met some, and while some make choices that don't make sense to me, it makes sense to them. This isn't just about the fact that they do have the right to vote, it's about recognizing that those homeless people are people, just like you and me, who happen to be struggling with their own demons. They aren't substandard human beings, they don't deserve less regard than we think we owe ourselves.

As someone born and raised in Ohio, I can remember a time when there were no homeless on the streets. Right now, they have a say too, just as someone lower class can vote as well as the rich.

Sounds like Rush Limbaugh stuff, ranting about the homeless being helped to vote. They should vote.

This is America.

And the rich are finding out we Middle and Lower Class Americans are the real America.

Be glad it is not you on the street. Because we are all one step away from that in this economy, because it is going to get worse.

Bush sat by, while millions of Ohioan jobs went overseas. Anyone voting for McCain is asking for more of the same. Maverick? Pfftttt.......

Update: Got about a 100 emails out last night, and will shoot for a 100 more today.

I expect that should cycle into 1000's of emails by the end of today. I'm gonna meet with some folks in a few hours and see how many homeless people we can transport to the voting booths and likewise my friends and family in the North and South will be doing the same.

This might just give the Democrats that extra edge they need (if needed at all) , while at the same time making sure the homeless aren't left out and their voices are heard.

Thanks again bentlebee, for the most awesome idea!
