I just read about the ACORN issue that the right wingers have been going on and on about here at City Data. As I suspected, and much like almost every thing else they complain about here, their complaints are bogus.

I'm going to make a donation to ACORN for every comment I see whining about them. Who will join me?

Well double your donation for me, comrade, as I am yelling doubly loud about this truly un-American organization.

A voter registration movement that's unAmerican! We have our first donation to ACORN!

Thanks, Rosinante!

The article doesnot address the allegation that ACORN would be receiving earmarks from the bailout bill.

Who cares? I don't know if your allegation is true, but it's a voter registration effort, for crying out loud. Is it such an outrage that we register more people?

I used to be a community organizer for another network and always heard bad things. Usually it was because they were able to out-organize us so I always took it with a grain of salt.

Another thing that I take with a grain of salt are discussions by Republicans about voter fraud (e.g. ACORN). The Republican party usual wins win there is low-voter turnout so discouraging voters works on their behalf.

There is nothing wrong with ACORN except they want people to exercise their right to vote.

How dare they?
