Why does defense never come up as a cost-cutting measure?

Does anybody on this forum have any grasp of how much waste is going on in Iraq right now? We send brand new Suburbans for contractors being paid 150,000 bucks a year to use, and then leave them abandoned all over the desert. How do you justify truck drivers being paid six figures over there? Does anybody know how much a single Excalibur artillery shell costs? Or up-armored Humvees that we go through like crack? Do you know how much it costs to fuel a C-141?

Has anyone here seen the movie, "Sicko". If you haven't I suggest you see it.

If Americans had a healthplan of Medicare, what would be wrong with that?

I don't know anyone who has Medicare, where they have to phone up Medicare because they made a mistake.
Anyone receive their social security check late? Or got the wrong amount of money? NO!!!

Lets be real, if politicians can vote theirselves in having the best retirements and best healthcare, can't us, their employers vote ourselves in for second best health care and retirements?

I don't understand the American mindset, where Americans have to take second fiddle. We deserve quality and affordable healthcare, just like our politicians, we deserve good retirements.
But, for us to have quality healthcare and retirements we need quality jobs. Oops, forgot..most all the jobs were outsourced. You watch, these heartless, self serving politicians will up the age of social security from 62 to 65.

In California, there is 20 billion dollars going out for illegals due to healthcare, schooling, 30 percent of prisoners are illegals. The state is broke. Instead of doing something about the illegal problem, they pay state employees federal min. wage.

This Rescue Plan, was the result of greedy people, and I say if someone on Wallstreet got paid 400 million dollars last year, they go to trial and if found guilty, fine them 400 million. Let those greedy people who caused this mess, be the ones to help pay.

Sorry, got off track.

That's true, but it IS a great way to save on healthcare. I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't helpful to a lot of people.

Sorry, just trying to help

I think if there's waste in medicare it should be scaled back. When I worked in home care, I saw plenty of it. Ex.) Gave insulin to Mrs. B, all while Mrs. B's daughter was also a diabetic giving herself injections!! Said she "didn't like to give her mom injections." This is only one example--many more.
I also think prevention should be emphasized more. I think some of these programs can be overused and abused.

Americans all deserve good health care that they can afford! I don't understand how Republicans can be so selfish, where is your humanity? I don't want to see anyone struggling worrying about going to the doctor because they may not be able to afford it or have no health care!

I thank God that I have health insurance. I have my own small business and I have lifetime 9/11 health insurance thank the heavens. If not, I would not be able to afford any!!! I only use it once a year or if I am very sick, I don't abuse the health system, I use it responsibly to maintain my health and fix whatever health problems I develop if I can't help them on my own!
