1) he is not old
2) he speaks far better

Hey, George Clooney is not old and speaks far better so that would make him a successful president. Wow. Shallow.

Avoid answers such as "He inspires me", "He's young and fresh", "He's what we need" or "He will change things". Also try not to use references to Bush/McCain/Republicans. I'm not trying to be smart but seriously, keep it about him and what he's said or done, not who he isn't and what others have done.
Just need to look to 1992 when a young, inexperienced Bill Clinton presided over a prosperous peacetime expansion. The president doesn't draft legislation, he doesn't decide cases, he doesn't vote in congress... he leads and inspires.

His plan for healthcare is better; McCain is more of the same. Doling out $5000 to the HMOs for every subscriber is only going to lead to additional corporate profit-taking. Companies providing health insurance have successfully made it a very profitable business -- by redlining, not paying claims, and not insuring anyone with any risk. So people diligently pay their premiums, only to be pushed into bankruptcy if any medical emergency happens because the insurance just won't pay. And don't even try to get insurance if you've got a pre-existing condition... basically, our existing healthcare system provides profits to some investors and directors/CEOs, gives some "coupons" for discount medical care, and then in the end pawns everything risky off to medicare.

Iraq/War on Terrorism? We'll save billions when we get out of Iraq, or at least get them to start paying or giving us oil. Those billions will go a long way to paying for other stuff, like the ridiculous bailout, along with some good things like healthcare, investment in alternate energy technologies, and education.

Foreign Policy? We'll gain all our old allies back immediately when Obama becomes president. As mentioned in the debate, US intervention against genocide in places like Dafur will be possible again with the help of our European allies.

Social Reform? I'm guessing people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will be out of business; who is going to buy their arguments when the highest office in the land is occupied by a black man? Young people will continue their departure from the racist views of their parents and grandparents. We'll move on. Melting pot, all that. The youth will at least have someone close to their age in office, again like Bill Clinton, instead of someone generations off track. It's change that has to happen at some point. Seems like now is a good time.

I wish Bush had followed Obama's type of leadership or we wouldn't be in this mess. Obama's willingness to use diplomacy before military aggression will hopefully bring peace to our nation so we can spend money on domestic problems instead of building up Iraq where there is an $80 billion surplus.

Obama's attitude that good health care is "a right" will ensure all people, even those with serious illnesses, that they can receive quality treatment without losing their homes and all their savings. Nothing is more degrading than being told you are obsolete because you don't have insurance.

We need a leader who understands that a good education is important. Hearing "betcha" might be fine at a hockey game, but we need to lift up our country and earn back the global respect we once deserved.

There is no way of knowing if a man or woman will be a good President. It's going to be one of the toughest times for any leader to take on and we need to be patient and strong. IMO a leader who will listen to the people will get more accomplished. As a former Community Organizer, Obama has been successful in grass-roots organizing, which proves to me he knows how to tackle problems that affect the average person, not just popular issues in Washington.

Seriously, we don't need comments like this one. I know people in their 80s who can run circles around a lot of 40 year olds.

So maybe that's another thing Obama will teach us - to have respect for our elders and compassion for all human beings. He's also been endorsed by the Humane Society, so having respect for all living creatures would be a welcome lesson. Shoot pool, not animals!

Amazing what type of people get to vote isn't it?

Forget the issues, let's vote for someone based on how they look or how they sound, or because they aren't George W. Bush.
