Obama gaining strength in the groups he needs to win. What's wrong with these people over 70. The baby boomers are supporting Obama and the Hillary's women voters have come home to the dems.
Clip:
Democrat Barack Obama has built a 4-point lead over Republican rival John McCain in the race for the White House, aided by growing support from women and independent voters, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Thursday.
Obama led McCain 48 percent to 44 percent among likely U.S. voters in the national poll, up from a 2 percentage-point advantage for Obama on Wednesday. The poll has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
Obama expanded his advantage among independents to 13 points from 9 and his lead among women grew to 9 points from 7. The Illinois senator moved slightly ahead of McCain among Roman Catholic voters and now leads or is even with McCain in all age groups except those above age 70.

The poll I just saw said it was down to an Obama +3 lead! It was +11 just 2 days ago. I told you all it would be close. And don;t forget, most experts believe Obama has a 5-7 point Bradley affect to overcome combined with other factors.

I have personally changed at least 120 people's mind in my area. It was quite easy too. Just show them a few facts on obama and they flee!

This is a brand new daily poll that started yesterday. It is still finding its legs and Zogby is not near the top of Polling credibility. I will say again the national polls are becoming distorted as we head to the finish line. McCain may well pick up in the national race while losing in the electoral race. The same thing happened with Hillary and Team Obama is using the same strategy.

It will be the electoral college that determines this race - and it looks to me that Obama has that in the bag, so to speak.

Independents are the factor that no one is sure about . . . I am not a big McCain supporter - plenty of other candidates I would have preferred seeing on the GOP ticket . . .but there will be plenty of people like me who will vote GOP, just as there will be plenty who will vote DEM. I will vote straight GOP this time (don't always). I wish we could throw some DEMs out of Congress as Pelosi has led us all straight to a wall.

So, yes, there will be DEM and GOP voters who will do what I am gonna do - and vote a straight ticket. Then there will be some crossovers (both sides) . . . but the election is held in the hands of Independent voters . . .

Now my question will continue to be . . .how many DEMs don't really find Obama all that charming and are concerned about his socialist policies . . . but are saying in public that they are gonna back him . . . b/c they don't want to look like racists, since that is what we are all getting labeled if we are white and not voting for Obama.

I have a friend (my age) who has been a straight ticket DEM all her life . . . and she was saying, even in her family (also staunch DEMs) that she was backing Obama, b/c she assumed they would get into a big fight if she voiced that she was breaking from tradition and not voting for Obama.

Everyone in her family was voicing support from Obama, til she got upset at a family gathering several weeks ago and stated she was sorry - everyone could just be upset if they wanted to be - but that she felt Obama had a socialist agenda and that scared her . . . and to her utter surprise, her mother, brother, stepfather, SIL - all said they were not going to vote for him, either, but they were just saying they were b/c at work - anyone who questioned Obama was immediately labeled a RACIST, and they didnt want to get labeled a RACIST.

So that got me wondering . . . how many others are there like that out there????

Well, how do you *know* they'll vote for McCain after you "changed" their minds? What facts did you show them??

They probably "flee", as he put it, just to get away from his incessant ranting about how McCain is the only guy to vote for. I tend to do the same thing myself when I run into a rabid McCain supporter- they probably think they've "changed my mind" when I say "yeah, OK, you're right"......

Probably just as many as the folks who support President Bush, don't want to be labeled liberal socialist Republicans and so they say they support someone else....
