Talking Points Memo | The Gist of the ACORN Story

For the right wingers that want to make this an issue, you can stop now. Mickey Mouse can't vote because he's a cartoon character.

For the left wingers that want to argue, remind the GOP that just because there are registered voters who aren't real, doesn't mean they will show up at the polls.

It's really that simple. ACORN is being used as a way to reduce registration by the right, while making money for people working with ACORN and defrauding them.

The minor fraud they took place was actually aimed at ACORN. ACORN were the ones that turned their employees who falsified the voter rolls.

What they do is pay poor people to register other poor people to vote. Naturally, some will try and cheat. ( I have scores of links of GOPers doing this same thing as well)

It's just a right wing talking strategy designed to drive up voter anger.

There has not be a major case of wide spread, significant voter fraud in decades. Just GOP spin.

We've had similar problems with paid initiative gatherers in the past in Washington state. Whenever you pay somebody, you have an incentive to cheat.
