McCain Letter Demanded 2006 Action on Fannie and Freddie - HUMAN EVENTS

"Sen. John McCain's 2006 demand for regulatory action on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could have prevented current financial crisis, as HUMAN EVENTS learned from the letter shown in full text below.

McCain's letter -- signed by nineteen other senators -- said that it was "...vitally important that Congress take the necessary steps to ensure that [Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac]...operate in a safe and sound manner.[and]..More importantly, Congress must ensure that the American taxpayer is protected in the event that either...should fail."

Sen. Obama did not sign the letter, nor did any other Democrat."

OBAMA signed a different letter in-fact one of the first things Obama did when he was in office was point that there was an economic disaster ahead because of these bad loans being made.

However everyone just shrugged because he was new. Well guess if we listen to the new guy we wouldn't be in this mess

McCain also playfully called him self the "Deregulator" last year and said he has been fighting for deregulation throughout his past. How wrong he was.

Hmmm, I wonder what McCain thinks about this...

Come on!

We all know McCain sent this letter, along with the other Senators who signed it... If I dig harder I'm sure I can find an unbias source...

But the OPINION PIECE you posted in response is laughable! And in no way based in fact.

It is a well known FACT that the McCain letter was sent.

Why don't you go back to MSNBC & the dailykos with your garbage.... The view must be great in that glass house!!!

Well, in the future, I suggest you do that because I and the majority of the rest of the country no longer believe anything that comes from the right wing.

Take a look at some polls for verification.
