My friend had his veterinarian practice in Fayetteville and still owns tons of property in North Carolina which he hopes to cash in on someday. He is a practicing Episcopalian and moved his business to Portland, Oregon to escape people such as those in this article. He was repulsed by comments made to him such as: "At least you're not a Jew".

Print Story: 'Socialist,' 'Muslim' — Ugly reception for Obama - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081019/pl_politico/14728/print;_ylt=AteW9z4oXIa3G3H_o4vv7cPCw5R4PRINT - broken link)

Clip:
Barack Obama's stop at Cape Fear BBQ and Chicken in Fayetteville, N.C., this afternoon underscored the continued resistance of some voters to his candidacy — and his identity. The trip, according to a pool report, offered “some powerful and at times ugly interaction.”
Campaigning in a traditionally Republican state, the Democratic nominee found lots of supporters of John McCain, at least one woman who believes the Illinois senator is a "closet Muslim" — and another who repeatedly shouted “Socialist.”

Ooh!!! Someone shouted the nasty word, "socialist". He better run and hide. This is just another nothing story.

Just because it's nothing to you doesn't mean it's not something to others. Why so dismissive? There are people who still believe in being polite regardless of what candidate you support. I can't stand McCain's policies but I would be polite enough to shake his hand.

Funny I have never heard of anyone being offended by someone calling them a Capitalist!
Some people believe that Liberalism and Socialism is the root of all that is wrong with this country, therefore when you have a candidate that is as disingenuise and dishonest as Obama, that tends to bring out some strong emotions in people who are very Patriotic!!

Is Fayetteville, NC where "real" Americans live?

Ask Sarah Palin. She knows.

Yes, it is as "real" American as it gets! Fayetteville is a military town, where Ft. Bragg is located. I would not expect much support there for Obama at all.
