Will it be the main deciding factor in such an open presidential race?
After the healthy increase in voter turn out in 2004 -mainly because of the highly charged partisan sentiment - I'm a little intrigued about just how big of an impact turn out will be on who the next president will be. Are you gonna bother to vote?
As we all know histrorically voter turn-out is declining and more and more of us are apathetic on election day, or just plain lazy to go and exercise our rights our forefathers died for.
Who do you think would most benefit from low turn out? Democrats or Republicans? Any individual candidates (providing winning the primaries)?
Well now that the Dems have control of the Congress, they will have 2 years to prove themselves worthy of increasing their power. If nothing happens, it wont be a good thing for them.
If the Dems had stayed the minority in atleast the Senate it could have helped them win the White House. The Dems will be credited or blamed for whatever takes place in the next 2 years.
But its still 2 years before the elections! So much can happen and so many declaring candidacy its going to be interesting. My guess is that the current front runners for both parties will be hot at first but will be old news by election time. They may run out of steam and someone else unknown now gets the nomination.
