Definatly paper ballots! I do not "trust" computerized systems, they can be breached. . . automated punch types create the "hanging chad" phenomena. . . sometimes newer technology is NOT THE ANSWER!
Well, you can achieve similar results with a paper backup in a computer system that allows voters to verify their results after they have cast. For transmittal, various techniques of security concepts could then be used for transmittal in order to insure privacy of the exchange as well as integrity of the exchange. If setup properly, it would be infinitely easier to rig paper ballots than it would be to rig electronic ones.
Well I don't have any confidence in any type of computerized voting machines based on what we see. To me it seems we are dumping millions and millions of taxpayer $$ into these computers to have problems-still. I mean already reports of people pushing Obama on the touch screen and it registering for McCain and visa-versa. Reports of workers turning these computers on in the morning, only to have votes already recorded-even though no one has voted. I would rather take my chances with paper ballots. To me, it is not only cheaper but more efficient. No matter how much $$ is spent and how many firewalls etc are put in place, there is always a chance of hacking occurring in computer systems.
After reading about the voting machines in West VA that keep switching votes from Obama to McCain, I might change my mind and agree that paper ballots are better.
Either one is easy to corrupt but paper is much more difficult. Paper all the way. The hell with "going green"!
Hanging chads????
I loved those big honking voting booths of old where you pulled a curtain and you stood before what looked like a supercomputer with all these metal levers and 2 big levers if you wanted to vote straight ticket.
What happened to those????
