Looks like Obama is making friendships with the French President because of his political views of socialism " but not to France’s large socialist and communist populations," is having issues with "his" people .....

Wonder what Obama thinks about this? Since his socialist views are his campaign slogan...

Spread the wealth and all.........

A Sarkozy Voodoo Doll
October 22nd, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has threatened a shopkeeper in Paris, who sells voodoo dolls of him. If the salesman does not stop selling the dolls, he may get sued.

The dolls have needles in them, and come with instructions on how to use the power of voodoo against the elected president.

Although non-superstitious individuals may make fun of the doll, there are others, among whom Sarkozy, who consider the dolls to be highly offensive and a product of hate-speech.
Additionally, of course, there are many who do not believe in these things, but who adhere to a ‘but lets not touch it either’ philosophy.

The doll has quotes from Sarkozy on it such as “get lost, jerk” (which Sarkozy reportedly said to a man who refused to shake his had at an event) and “work more to earn more,” which may sound logical to most, but not to France’s large socialist and communist populations, who dismiss any relationship between working and earning money.

But I thought France loved Sarkozy and Obama?

Miborn,

Even for you this lacks any sense of coherence. First Sarkozy is not a socialist, second, you seem to conflating socialism, the French view of American foreign policy, and the strange way the French view freedom of speech. Could you pick from just one of those issues, and ask a cogent question otherwise this thread makes absolutely no sense.

I'd add that Obama isn't socialist either. And that Sarkozy is a conservative (which in France isn't as far to the right as in America). But conservatives here in the states trumpeted Sarkozy's election victory as a sort of vindication of our foreign policy. I.e., they were very happy with him. Now, not so much? I really don't understand conservatives.

Silly Idahogie..don't you realize that everybody outside the U.S. is a socialist with Das Kapital under his pillow?? In fact they're all our enemies, even the right wing ones. Naive liberals... (j/k)

Really, Calling Sarkozy a socialist is rediculous. I'm stiill shocked that he's president of France of all places

I think Obama obviously has affection for socialist ideals... BUT Sarkozy is not a Socialist... He's a Conservative... I'd equate his positions to that of a Lieberman/Giulliani ... More moderate than anything, but in Europe that's a conservative. Obama is probably further left than Sarkozy.

John McCain in 2000, when it suited his purposes:

"we feel obviously that wealthy people can afford more."

"when you reach a certain level of comfort, there's nothing wrong with paying somewhat more."

Here is Obama's "spread the wealth around" quote in context:

"My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s going be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody, and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."
