LAPD Chief Bratton believes a pre-election attack from AlQaeda is possible, and they are gearing up for special surveillance over the next 11 days. Bratton and R.P. Eddy, former director of counter-terrorism at the National Security Council think Bin Laden wants to sway the election in favor of Republican Party candidate John McCain, since McCain "is more likely to engender Muslim anger and resentment than would his opponent.
This quote is especially interesting:
"Put simply: Bin Laden probably realizes it could become markedly more difficult to paint the United States as the 'Great Satan' with a new president who is admired internationally. The remaining 14 days before the elections should be seen as a time of high threat, and state and local police should be on high alert."
The way I read this, the odds are even higher that McCain is the president who will face testing from terrorists. It will be easier to attack with McCain as POTUS because he's not well liked internationally.
The article mentioned no credible source for his claim. If the FBI, CIA or some other agency wants to put the country on alert, fine. But randomly spouting off about what Bin Laden is "probably" up to is alarmist and irresponsible coming from someone in his position.
The REAL terrorists want to GOP in office because they want to continue the bombing. The more bombs that fall on muslim countries the more recruiting. THe more bombs we send over the more terrorists sign up!
The REAL terrorists view Barack Obama as one who unites people and seeks common ground. Its much harder to attack that ideology.
The REAL terrorist's hate Barack Obama.
Obamas image around the world, and the big stick he will carry, is what can keep America safe.

Because you're voting for McCain the police chief should be fired?
I'm voting for Obama. Yes, the police chief should be fired. This is not a partisan agenda, it's a matter of public safety.
Yelling "FIRE" in a crowded theater. Bad idea.
