Being patriotic is a lot more than just being born in this country. There are immigrants and new Americans who are far more patriotic than people who were born here. Being patriotic is a lot more than just waving a flag and call yourself patriotic. Anyone can wave a flag. Being patriot is a lot than just being a soldier. Many young people join the armed forces so that they can have money to go college. Being patriotic is the last thing on their mind. Being patriotic is a lot than invading other countries and killing other people.

You can't call yourself a patriot unless you really want your country to be strong. And that starts with helping others in your country, community and neighborhood to become stronger. True patriots don't need to call others name and beat them down to call themselves patriots.

We don't need'em anyway........People always take responsibility for themselves....problem is, the Republicans have allowed the rich/corporations to rape the rest of America; the one brilliant thing they have done is to make you think the poor are hurting you, not the rich.

Those that can't are taken care of for free. Yes we do pay for them. Enough free rides. It's too much already.

People do not always take responsibility for themselves. It's like anything else, a few bad apples can spoil the whole barrel.
We are far from rich - $125k a year for a family of five is very far from it. No, I wouldn't want anyone to die. I do however want illegals shipped back. I don't want to take care of them. I don't want to take care of the unwilling and lazy either.
Just look at the most recent illegal from NY that killed her 11 year old daughter. Here from Mexico for 4 months and now we WILL take care of her for the rest of her life, in our prisons. The illegals rape us blind. And if she does ever get out on parole or something, we will give, yes give, her a college education on our dime as well.

You have a narrow view of things. My sister works six days a week but has no health care insurance. She cannot buy it from the state because she makes just enough money to make her ineligible, but doesn't make enough to be able to afford it on her own. Your problem with illegal immigration is another topic.

Patriotism as in idol/symbolism worship? Rabid nationalism? I would need a disclaimer before I voted.

You are assuming things you have no business assuming. We know McCain only got where he is because of his family..........we don't know whether or not Obama benefited from affirmative action.

You know as well as I that not everyone has the same opportunities. Not all public schools are equal, and you know that too.

Most people do that.

Ludicrous, myopic, and simply wrong.

My grandfather was a vet from WWII, my dad, Vietnam, and my husband from the first Iraq war. Thankfully, none maimed, but I can tell you the VA helped them out in our local communities, education (and no, not one with a fancy degree, but all have/had good jobs and a good head on their shoulders), VA mortgage, etc. I do know that the hospitals need a lot of work and I don't see Obama making those a priority either.
OK, so what is your point?

I'm still waiting for how Obama will help? The only thing I can see is him taking away more of what we've worked for, and that, I'm completely against

Man, have you fallen for that GOP b.s. mindgame hook, line and sinker.
