Most conservative and most liberal cities in America:

Because I said so · Most liberal and conservative cities…

The top three conservative cities in America are:

Provo, Utah
Lubbock, Texas
Abilene, Texas

(The entire list is at the link)

No wonder I have felt like a small blue dot floating in a sea of red ever since I moved to Abilene! This explains the lack of Obama signs in our city. Anyway, it is interesting data to study and apply to the election.

Liberal

1 Detroit Michigan
2 Gary Indiana
3 Berkeley California

Conservative
1 Provo Utah
2 Lubbock Texas
3 Abilene Texas

...uh, I'll take a pass on all of those cities.

Although there is a pretty good restaurant in Gary I've been known to visit on occasion, and their minor league baseball is fun, but beyond that, forgettaboutit.

I think it is good for cities to have a healthy debate between political parties, having one party in charge for too long without any checks and balances isn't good for any city (that is part of the problem with Chicago, I would like to see a strong candidate for another party threaten to shake things up, if anything to make the Democrats here realize that just because you have a 'D' next to your name doesn't mean you are going to win the election, you might actually have to work for it too).

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. That goes for all sides of the political debate.

Lafayette, Louisiana is one of the most conservative cities? Uh...no, I don't think so. Granted, we don't have a hell of a lot of cities in Louisiana that have large enough populations to fit onto that list, I suppose, but I wouldn't say Lafayette is that extremely conservative.

Blog post is three years old, prefaced with "Somewhat flawed, but interesting nonetheless.", and the link to the "study" is dead.

It would be interesting to see if the what the crime rate is in the most liberal versus most conservative cities. Someone should do a study. Maybe there would be no correlation and maybe a huge correlation, but I'd like to see the numbers on something like that!

"A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged."

"A liberal is a conservative who's been laid off."

Lots of people out of a job in Motor City and the Armpit of America (Gary smells pretty bad). Guess the last 8 years didn't work out so well for them.
