In the oddest and most ironic twists of fate this election season is the latest ad by John McCain.
In this ad that talks about global warming, Barack Obama is shown in a video clip where he states that "John McCain is good for the environment". John McCain is and has been one of the best Republicans out there on environmental issues, I would think that is reasonably safe to say.
The irony here is that John McCain is using his political rival as an endorsement of his policy views. I find that extremely unusual considering that the McCain campaign has pretty much called his opponent everything but Pol Pot. Maybe I'm the only one who sees the irony in this and I don't even think it is subtle.
So there you have it, the closing days of the election and the last grasp for McCain to lure in voters is to run an ad showing there Obama has endorsed him. You just can't make this stuff up.

I watched this ad that ran during a program I had DVR'd and had to rewind and watch it two or three times before it really sank in. I am going to need to burn this one to a disk for political posterity and what not to do during an election campaign.

Don't worry. McCain will throw Obama under the bus with all his other "friends" soon. I bet he'll even have the gall to blame him for his loss on Tuesday. |

What amazes me is that McCain didn't learn after the first debate.
During that debate, Obama said, a bunch of times, "Senator McCain is absolutely right!"
The McCainiacs were THRILLED and rushed out, that night, a "McCain is Right" ad filled with Obama saying that.
Obama's numbers JUMPED in response, while McCain's stayed even.
People currently LOVE hearing sincere bi-partisan talk, and having it shown to them. Obama's praising McCain is just going to help Obama with some undecideds and waverers.

Since he is already seeking Obama's endorsements, maybe he can hit Obama up for a small loan of say, 50 million or so?

I think the fear has run out of gas. People just don't have the fears of the boogyman they did 4-5 years ago. Today's fear is whats for supper next month and will the light bill get paid. For that fear the people want solutions not someone who doesn't understand economics blaming everyone else. |

Yep. The politics of fear have failed. We're no longer scared of terrorists when we have our own economic problems. Obama has surrounded himself with people to consult and advise. McCain has lobbyists.
