If any of this is true, let it make all the news stations before the 4th!

Lies, Half Truths and Contradictions: Chronicle ''Hidden'' Audio on Obama (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/b/a/2008/11/02/nov05election-lies_half_truth_2.DTL - broken link)

The Drudge Report, the Republican National Committee and apparently even GOP VP candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin fell for completely fabricated news from a shady website called Newsbusters today suggesting the San Francisco Chronicle has ''hidden'' audio with Sen. Barack Obama regarding his statements on coal. ''Barack Obama explained his plan to the San Francisco Chronicle this year,'' she told a rally in Ohio Sunday. ''He said that sure, if the industry wants to build coal-fired power plants, then they can go ahead and try, he says, but they can do it only in a way that will bankrupt the coal industry.''
She added, ''And you've got to listen to the tape.''
''Why is the audiotape just now surfacing?'' Palin asked the crowd, according to a report from CBS News. Someone in the crowd shouted, ''Liberal media!'
Let's be very clear: the Chronicle did not, and has never, hidden any interview, audio or video, of Obama from its readers.

both McCain and Obama support cap and trade. That policy will bankrupt the coal industry. Al Gore supports it for the same reason.

These are the same types of plants that everyone is on China's back about not building. Obama and McCain both hope to use plenty of coal, they just want a different, cleaner way to use it.

The bottom line-- and both candidates know this-- coal is what we have right now. Wind, solar and all that other stuff aren't viable alternatives for today. The idea is make the coal cleaner today while we build up and search for alternatives.

If anyone wants an idea of how pro-coal Obama is, the tree huggers hate him for his position.

It is his voice, and he did say those things, and the tape wasn't hidden, it's been on SFGate's website for a year. He's talking about a coal cap and trade program, that he and McCain both support in their energy plans. It's a good idea, because traditional coal powered plants need to be phased out. Sorry West Virginia.

Sarah Palin has never let the facts get in the way of a good sound byte. She knows how to stir up a crowd, but has no substance.

And again, she needs to find out how her running mate stands on the issue she is talking about (McCain also favors cap and trade). I wonder if West Virginians know that?
