Big props to you for pointing this out. Should we lie to our kids and tell them America is perfect when it isn't..We end up with people who think like the OP and PO the blind Patriot.
Agreed. Meanwhile back at the ranch those in denial of history need to acknowledge that America has committed its share of atrocities throughout it's history. The fact that they don't want to hear it, especially from a black man, whether he says it in a church or in his living room, it doesn't negate the truth.
Wright made his comments on September 16, only 5 days after the deadly strikes in New York and Washington. He said, in part, "We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye....We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost."
would you expose your family to such vitriol?
I don't know why people bother starting polls like this one. Democrats are liars with no sense of morality. They want what you have without working for it themselves.
Not to mention that the whole "chickens coming home to roost" concept was something that Reverend Wright borrowed (WITH attribution) from a former U.S. Ambassador, who'd said it first, on television.
Ambassador Peck (the man whose quote is borrowed by Pastor Wright) was was the Deputy Director of the Reagan White House Task Force on Terrorism. He served as Chief of Mission in Baghdad (Iraq 1977 to 1980) and later held senior posts in Washington and abroad. Edward Peck also argued against invading Iraq prior to the March 2003 invasion.
