Since Oil and Medical being the two pillars of Houston's local economy, who would be a better choice for us given their 3Ps (Policies, Plans and Promises) ? Mcain / Obama ?

Well, if Obama passes some of the "windfall" taxes that he has proposed on oil companies in the past, it would be bad for Houston. These large oil companies, while making large amounts of money in real dollars, don't actually make that big of margins. The reason the make a lot of money is two fold. One, they are huge companies overall, and two, they spend a lot of money to make a lot of money.

If all of a sudden, billions have to be paid up to the government for being a successful business, who do you think will really pay that? Certainly not the shareholders in lost revenue and net income. Costs will be cut and prices raised. So a windfall tax on a large oil company will probably result in layoffs in the Houston area.

My thinking is that with a slowing economy and lower gas prices, Obama's push for a windfall tax probably won't come to fruition, but if it did, it would be a negative to the Houston area.

Default whose better

My father was a geologist and worked for Texaco here in when Jimmy Carter was elected and passed the first wind fall profits tax.He was forced to go over to Saudi Arabia to make a living. When Carter left office interest rates were 21% and unemployment was 10.8 %.Proving once again that if you tax wealth they fire your ass or move away your jobs.Mccain wants to allow more drilling in the gulf all the way down to Florida ,if Florida allows it.I am a Petroleum engineer and I promise you there will be thousands of new jobs in Houston due to that evil BIg Oil if Mccain is elected.

Depends. If you think that Houston could benefit from neo-socialism, then Obama. If you think hoping for the best by voting for the lesser-of-two-evils, then settle for McCain. Neither choice is great, but one is worse.

Nothing keeps oil prices up like war in the middle east. Vote McCain cause he'll pile up enough 18 year old bodies in the Middle East to keep 60 year old Houston oil exec's pockets fat for years.

Did Sarah Palin not do the same thing in Alaska?

I voted for Bob Barr, your fooling yourself if you think anything will be different depending on which of the 2 Republicrat candidates you choose. Only thing that changes is whose pockets get lined at your expense.

Two points:

1) Doesn't matter, because McCain's toast.
2) Doesn't matter, because even if he had a shot (he doesn't, see point 1) he could do absolutely nothing with an overwhelmingly democratic congress.

Obama's rockstar appeal nationally and internationally will be the biggest factor in getting America back to shape.
