So, you're a Republican (or Independent) and want to vote for Obama but you're afraid of Democratic hegemony (Democratic control of the legislative and executive branches)?
Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker has the answer for you:
"...If Obama is your man, then otherwise vote all Republican.
As even Democrats should do, lest one party control both Congress and the executive branch. That absolute power corrupts absolutely is a dictum that needs no defense. That both parties are equally corruptible is a monument to understatement. And gridlock, though we profess to hate it, is sometimes preferable to the alternatives."
I can tell you this. With John McCain, you know what you are getting, another 4 years of the last 8 years. Thats a fact! We know what Obama's (Clinton's) policies will do. We've seen it happen in the 1990s when we had a properous economy. To me its very clear who should be the next president.

Why not vote for McCain instead? We already have a Democratic congress.

Well....the Op does have a point and to reference it to your frame of thought: The majority of the past administration has been with a Dem controlled congress, and the 90's while Clinton was in office, was a majority of Repub controlled congress. Seeing as the prez can't do anything except appoint people to a few, limited posts, without congress approval.........
