If you really believe that Sarah Palin was any kind of boon to the Republican party then you're seriously mistaken. Go back to your roots and redefine what being conservative is about, then you'll have a chance at another election.

But I'll give you a hint: Hypocrisy, smear tactics and value systems which are shallow like puddles on a rainy day are not what conservatism is about.

Sarah Palin cost Senator McCain the election. Deal with it.

Except harder, that was probably the least smart thing I have heard all day and its been a long one.

I am sick of you republican conservatives stereotyping us as lazy, bums who live off welfare. Many democrats work hard, create the technology that you use to type your stereotypical comments on the internet, and make plenty of money.

And I quote:

DARPA has been responsible for funding the development of many technologies which have had a major impact on the world, including Computer_networking", as well as NLS[/URL"]NLS, which was both the first hypertext[/URL"]hypertext system, and an important precursor to the contemporary ubiquitous graphical"]graphical user interface.

We have the military to thank for the Internet

That's a totally different topic. People need to ask themselves what they believe it is to be an American these days.

Then how do you explain all the loses in Congress? A lot of conservatives lost yesterday. Even Rove said yesterday that the Ronald Reagan era is over and that the repugs need to redefine themselves for the future instead of continuing to look back to 1980. We are in a new century now, try to catch up.

Its a cycle and I will agree with you that this will most likely cause the party to look itself over a bit and that is a good thing. Though, it could possibly go the route of a second democrat party (though I don't think it likely) and that would open up the chance for the independent party or possibly even another to finally step up to the plate. /shrug

Try to pay attention. I already said, they lost because they are not being true conservatives. They are doing to much of this "reaching across the isle" business, and that is why they lost.

Yes, well pardon me if I do take offense to your post. The left has taught me that I have the right to be offended by...well...anything I want to be offended by.

Sarah Palin was the only individual in the final race who had any executive experience. She had worked with budgets, the legislature, Alaskan courts, foreign nations, law enforcement, and all of the other exposure that a Governor receives that a Senator never does. Instead of passing laws and hoping there's enough money in the budget next year, she decided if there was enough money and prioritized spending according to the budget.

She was not selected for national office by a political machine. She did not come from a wealthy genealogy. Her husband had a regular job. She raised her own children while acting as a mayor and governor.

If those attributes are not what you would want in a president, then you misunderstand the word "qualified."

Keeping regular people like Sarah Palin from the White House based on the idea that she doesn't "fit" with the establishment is the type of thinking that has led to a national sense of "elitist" presidents (and I'm not excepting President Bush from this).

Politics should be open to everyone, and we should look to ordinary proven people to lead our country. By narrowly focusing on the prestigious and wealthy, we've created a new social class in this country.

At least Bill Clinton, despite being a criminal and a fraud, didn't come from this elite social class. Which is probably one of the few good things I'll say about the man.

There were true conservatives that lost. You are the one that needs to catch up to 2008. This isn't the 1980's anymore. You can cut your mullet off now.

I never defended McCain or Bush anywhere in this post only Reagan, I dont like either McCain or Bush; however Obama is more of a Socialist and that is not hard to figure out.
