I was looking today for newspapers headlining Obama's victory. I was going to save it for posterity. I can't find any. They all sold out. Many years from now, these papers will sell for a fortune on Ebay.

I heard from a young man in the neighborhood that political signs that disappeared were in many cases taken by teens to hang in their rooms. Kids used to steal street signs in some places years ago and hang them in their rooms.

Why would you think fish wrap would be valuable some day?

Hey msina, do you think da yutes that were stealing all the McCaine/Palin signs were hanging them too?

I got my copy of the NYT at 6:30 this morning. Drove all over town looking for a copy. I like to keep big headlines. I know they won't sell for money, but it's cool to look back on it for posterity. I have papers from the 2000 election and 9/11.

Do not feel bad, me either. I drove around for three hours making stops to find papers. I even drove 30 miles to a Barnes & Noble and they we sold out early in the morning. I came home with one paper. Not even a local Florida paper to be had anywhere. The shelves were empty all over.

Well, no duh! I think everyone who ever raised kids, or whoever was a kid, knew that all along. Though the professor from St. Olaf College who stole the McCain signs was a hoot! (Do a search on this forum.)

We kept our copies of the Wilkes-Barre Times-Leader for the days subsequent to 9/11 as well. I cried the other evening while reading their one section titled "Just Like Us" where they did a collage of portraits of many of those who perished on that fateful day. Inside I read about all sorts of people---young and old, black and white, gay and straight, educated and uneducated, rich and poor, etc.---who died together. It truly restored a sense of patriotism within me and strengthened my resolve to head to the polls!
