I got paid by the state of Virgina to be an election official and they do not take taxes out, you have to report it on your tax forms at the end of the year. Not everything is on a W=2 basis.
Is this serious? They were paying people with gift cards? Isn't this INCOME and should be reported through the IRS, taxes withheld and such?
Well on the taxes Obama is being consistent because he believes only those people making over $250,000 a year should pay taxes. Certainly a measley $10 an hour doesn't come close.
Only $10 an hour? I hope at least with benefits like health insurance. $10 an hour isn't a living wage.
Excellent point. LOL

True, but they are still suppose to have SS withheld along with state taxes, etc.
But maybe there is no reason to be concerned. PP's are convinced these people will properly claim the income on their taxes in April. I hear lots of companies are going to pay in gift cards now. Bwaahaaahaaaaa!!!

Maybe as independent contractors they were supposed to be paying into social security taxes on their own.
