Well that would have been funny in a very Sarah Palin kind of way but Reagan uttered those lines while giving testimony before a federal grand jury! Truth is always stranger than fiction

Looking at this from another angle though, I see Republicans having a lot of trouble trying to counter Obama because of the issues he chose to focus on. As pointed out earlier, fiscal responsibility and defense/foreign policy matters are normally the realm of Republicans and he went straight at these issues. Just as he didn't try to just win blue states, he went deep into some red ones.

Granted, we are all talking speculation and hypotheticals here based on little evidence so far, but I believe it is going to be a very interesting and captivating next few months.
That was accurate, but not anymore.

Originally, Obama was planning on letting the Bush tax cuts expire. Subsequently, during the campaign, he changed his mind and decided to retain the Bush tax cuts in their entirety (including cap gains) for those making under $250K:

Obama, focusing on a theme of many past Democratic campaigns, seeks to target his help to the squeezed middle class and address the growing income inequality between rich and poor. He would retain all of the Bush tax cuts for families making less than $250,000 a year, but would do away with Bush's cuts for people making more than that.

The money raised from tax increases on the wealthy would be redirected by Obama to tax relief for lower-income Americans.

Ok, gotcha. I defer the economic finesse to your corner as I wasn't aware of how that came about. So in essence it was readjusting the pointer on an existing tax program then?

You may view this as his not supporting Pelosi, while I would see it as being fully supportive.
Their differences will come in the speed of things too. She's got her checkbook in hand and is ready to spend. I think Obama will want to do it more methodical and slower. So we probably agree more than disagree.

At this moment, but what it will be tomorrow...your guess is as good as mine (I may not even have a guess to offer).

You don't know by any chance how long this version of the tax plan is supposed to remain in effect or if it also has some kind of sunset provision?

I believe all, or the vast majority, are scheduled to expire at the end of 2010.
