Great article. It should be no surprise to find out that that right wingers are chronically frightened people that react out of fear, while displaying a false facade of toughness.

I think that's why the gay issue worked so well in 2000 and the terrorist issue worked so well in 2004. People are afraid to take care of themselves. This year, it's fear of the black man/socialists/Bush3.0(beta).
I think there is some truth to that. I've always believed that a lot of things that many people assume are a choice are at least in part biologically driven (sexual preference being an obvious example). We are all biological machines to a certain degree - it's only the degree that's in question.

I refuse to live my life in fear of anything. Just by being afraid of terrorists and doing everything base on them gives them an advantage and the win.
That's funny.... I considered myself to be fearless... but never in a million years would I consider myself a liberal..... I think what they see isn't necessarily what it "is"... I don't pigeon hole people who are easily startled as either liberals or conservatives... I think there is a spectrum in either group and that spectrum varies according to city, neighborhoods, or even within the same household... A conservative does not always see eye-to-eye with another conservative... lets not take things out of context and "believe" them to be factual...
Isn't a large part of the Christian faith about living without fear because of trust in god? And aren't alot of conservatives supposed to be Christians? Here is a question for supporters of McCain-Palin: What would Jesus do?
