I was wondering if anyone remembers another time where the VP pick was more news worthy than the President pick. I also wonder because I can't remember in my lifetime that the news cared about the VP pick after the election when they didn't win. What is the deal. Is Palin that interesting and am I miussing something or does she comand the attention herself. It is just odd. I hear she is going to the Governors convention and she is the only one that will hold a press conference.

Palin's getting attention right now because she's giving interviews and being her usual colorful self. Nobody else is giving interviews--Obama's too busy, and McCain's too classy.
Other notorious VPs include Spiro Agnew and Dan Quayle. Agnew was so controversial that people debated if Nixon chose him as a sort of "assassination insurance policy." In other words, nothing would happen to Nixon because everyone knew it would leave Agnew in charge.
Don't forget, she is a woman, and her nomination made history. There has only been one other woman nominated, and she is the first for the Republican party.
News worthy? I wouldn't call her news worthy. She's a joke and it's funny to see what she'll do next, that's ALL. Yeah, Quayle comes to mind...the potato joke heard round the world . When everyone is making fun of you, it's doesn't make you popular. She's inserted some levity to a very serious time....like a sit com on a news channel. I wish her well. And I do really, really wish she runs in 2012. I bet SNL and Tina Fey would agree!
Geraldine Ferraro would have to rate up there.
I also remember all the Quayle jokes.
