My bil adopted a Shih Tzu from a shelter, hopefully Obama will be able to find a hypoallergenic dog at a shelter as well.

Its harder to find a purebred dog at a shelter. A maltipoo would be precious.

There are many rescue groups that specialize in particular breeds, so I'm sure the Obama family can find a dog. My sister is allergic to everything and her family adopted a greyhound, but I don't see them on the list. It's hard to find a greyhound puppy but after a couple of years of racing they are often killed and they made very loyal, lovable pets.

I am so glad Massachusetts just passed a bill that will ban dog racing soon! Yay!

I have allergies and have always had dachshunds.. they are great with kids and are good for people with allergies, they don't shed much and especially short haired dachsies are the best.

He has his pick of dogs at every shelter and rescue organization in the country. How sweet would it be if your shelter was the one that the President got his dog? I think he'll be able to find a dog.
