All,

My intent of this thread was to discover if there are any moderate to hopefully conservative Democrats in office that may counter any plans Obama & Pelosi and company have that would go to far left. As I am a conservative leaning unaffiliated person, I would find it easier to accept such a left leaning Liberal as Obama, if I knew there would be some checks on him from his own party.

Thoughts from anyone who knows the politicians would be great. This could be a calm and informative thread and may help calm us conservative leaning people.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to stop it. The first handout has ended up with entire industries jealous over not getting help also.

I did notice that on the news tonight. I had to pop several Tylenol to stop my head from exploding. This handout / bailout thing is out of control. I honestly can't tell if there are ANY conservatives left in any party. It seems like everyone wants to give away the store and as bad as it is now, it will get worse with people that lean so far to the left. I am grasping at straws to find something to make me feel better about Obama, but all I see is Pelosi.

It's being led on by presidents who do not want to be accountable for millions of job losses. It's the total abandonment of capitalism. For the people that hate America and love Europe this is their dream.

The basis of your question is incorrect. Obama is a centrist, just like Hillary was. Liberals wanted people more like Edwards or Kucinich. Reframe your question so it matches up with reality a little more, and you'll get a very calm discussion thread.

THANK YOU - well said! Offshore drilling started today cannot do us any good for 10 years...what do we do until then? What will things be like at that point? Will we look back and think that it was a huge waste of money and resources because in the meantime, we found a way to relieve our dependence on oil? This is why Obama will consider it, but not be gung-ho like McCain is about offshore drilling.

What this equates to is that Obama is a thinker....nothing is off the table, but he hesitates to just go for the offshore drilling because he wants to consider other options that could remove our dependence from oil. I completely agree with this line of thinking and I do not, for the life of me, know why people have a hard time grasping this very reasonable concept.

And I bet my bottom dollar, if Obama goes through with offshore drilling and it turns out to be unnecessary, all of you hounding him about it now will at that time crucify him for having done it.

McCain supported offshore drilling because it's what people wanted to hear. But it still didn't work...

You are doing no such thing. You're feeding your own flames, MA.

Unlike Obama, I don't have to be so damned agreeable because I am tired of speaking truth to the deaf, dumb and willfully stupid...so;

Will democrats actually be the ones to save us from the socialist now known as obama?
No, and that's a good thing since the country doesn't want to be saved from "socialist" Obama, in fact the country wants Obama to be as "socialist" as has been because that is the "socialist" they voted for.

Good point, Ovcatto. He's a centrist, and the American people want someone more to the left.

The GOP is desperately trying to convince the Dems that although they've killed the GOP in two elections running, the US is "center-right" and the Dems should be cautious. They shouldn't fall for it. They should come out bold and left.

I heard on CNN tonight that he wants to expand H1-b visas to bring in even more foreign workers. So there goes his promise for more jobs for America's middle class. He's also apparantly doing little about oursourcing, according to CNN. I also heard (rumor) that he will try and get everything he DOES want done by using Executive Order to override Congress.
