I wont be there but I will watch.... and celebrate.

I am a conservative who voted for McCain and don't want Barak Obama president for love nor money....

but Jan. 20 is a magic day. We will be witnesses to a rare and special moment when power is peacefully transferred from one group to another with very different views and goals and all will be done in peace and with order by the will of the PEOPLE.

Inauguration day is a powerful and amazing and very rare moment in history. More than half the world never sees that in a lifetime. some in all their nations history. Even in American history by my count this is only the 24th time it has happened.

I might go up and line the streets and wave to the motorcade... but you'd have to be there mighty early if not before. Well, but it's history, and it'll be hugely fun. (Short answer: I'll try)

My sister and her husband plan to bike in from Fairfax County

4 Million, seriously? I don't think Washington, D.C.'s infrastructure can handle that!

I requested free tickets the day after he was elected but don;'t think we will get them. THere are so many request. It is frustrating that in his campaigning he had all these rallies and we went but most won't get to see this. I have this feeling that Goverment officals will get tickets and they will end of in their family and friends hands. The rest of us too bad. Or if your a celeb you most likley will get in. We are 4 hours away and I heard that it could be like a week before that you could find out if you get the tickets.

It's weird. I've never been to D.C. I've been to three other foreign capitals and never to my own! Every time I price it out wanting to go, it's far more expensive than going to London where I can stay with friends. So, I go to London, and then we can daytrip to Paris, Edinburgh, and Belgium!

I'm not so sure that views and goals of the outgoing and incoming administrations are that drastically different. The members of the ruling class at both ends of the spectrum have more in common with each other than they do with the rest of us. But I am impressed with the always peaceful relinquishment of power by the outgoing crew.
