Thomas is under no requirement to only schedule the discussion if he thinks it will pass the rule of 4.

But there are two reasons it will not, in all likelihood, get past the next level:

The first is sort of simple. This fellow has no more standing than Berg, or the fellow in California, or the fellow in NH. No standing, no hearing, no case.

The second is because of a distinction between this case and all of those others. Simply put, there is only one reason this petitioner things Obama is not a "natural born U.S. Citizen."

That being said, petitioner regretfully submits that since candidate
Obama was born to a Kenyan father, he also is not eligible to the office of President since is not a "natural born citizen" by the Constitution. Appellant respectfully requests that this Honorable Court order the Secretaries of the several States to remove Barack Obama's name from the ballots.

No, this one is not going to do it, either.

True - but it is customary to do so. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I agree with one poster about news malpractice. They have really done a bad job in informing the public on this issue. Poor things! They are going to get to live with the knowledge that they could have changed the outcome of this election if they had reported the real news and had not campaigned for Obama 24/7.

It is never too late to right a wrong. We don't know if there is a wrong, but the answers that would have let us know for sure have not been given. I hope our Supreme Court will get to the bottom of these questions and require the information necessary before they allow the electoral college to act.

There are lawsuits in several states, according to the other thread about this issue and the sources it listed. It is really strange that this is not front page news.
It's not "front page news" because it's paranoid ramblings from conspiracy theorists.

Get. A. Clue.

Yes, it should have been checked out but I have seen no evidence that it has been.
It amazes me that you are incapable of thinking logically.

The fact that there are lawsuits in 17 states does not mean it is true. It means that in a nation of 300 million people, 17 of them--clearly pathologically paranoid--decided to file lawsuits to keep the black man out of the White House. This kind of stuff goes on all the time.

If you seriously think that the federal government, and the Republican party, have fewer resources in determining the truth of this matter than a handful of nutcases filing lawsuits, you need a rather serious reality check.

Why is McCain, and the RNC hiding the truth! What are Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger, M. Jodi Rell, Charlie Crist, Linda Lingle, Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, Jim Gibbons, Donald Carcieri, and Jim Douglas keeping from the voters of their states. Why are the 202 Republicans in the House of Representatives, or the 49 Republican Senators allowing this travesty to take place? Why is a Republican President, his Vice President, and his Justice Department aiding and abetting this left wing socialist jihadist conspiracy?

The American People Deserve To KNOW!

Probably not.

I expect it to be very boring. This is especially true since in this kind of meeting, there is no grandstanding, no outsiders.

I was not surprised, when I knew he took it to Thomas, that Thomas did that. But, as the other suit is coming right along as well, I can imagine their lumping them, possibly, or something of the sort.

FactCheck.org: Born in the U.S.A.

But I suppose this won't be enough for the naysayers.

Late to the dance.

But in the case being discussed immediately, it's moot, not wrong. The suit grants he was born in Hawaii.

It only challenges his status based on the notion that his Kenyan father precludes his being a "Natural Born Citizen."

From Honolulu Advertiser, November 1, 2008:
Obama's certificate of birth OK, state says
Health director issues voucher in response to 'ridiculous' barrage

Quote:
State Health Department employees continue to be barraged by requests from people demanding to see Barack Obama's birth certificate, including some who have called the department's registrar of vital statistics at home — in the middle of the night.

"This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy."

So, in what likely will be a vain attempt to halt the inquiries, Fukino yesterday issued a statement saying that she and the registrar of vital statistics personally inspected Obama's birth certificate and found it to be valid.

Will this be enough to quiet the doubters?

"I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

Fukino issued her statement to try to stomp out persistent rumors that Obama was not born in Honolulu — and is therefore not a U.S. citizen and thus ineligible to run for president. . .
