Yup - the economy was strong - in a Pig's Eye...

Yup - the economy was strong - in a Pig's Eye...
Some economists have been warning about the housing bubble and the derivatives bubble for 5 years - all their warnings fell on deaf ears...

Now we're paying the price...

It will get worse before it gets better.

It will never be repaired unless they stay out of office forever.

You have got to be kidding with that stupid chart.

Liberals in office...let's start with Carter. GAS crunch? You can get gas on certain days of the week based on the numbers on your license plate? Hostages? B/c sunshine and peanuts don't win terrorists over?

Liberals create stupid policies that CAUSE a lot of waste and garbage. Which is why they get voted OUT. So after Jimmy is a Republican (got those hostages out in a heartbeat, by the by)...has to deal with the horrors that the hippie liberal president left. Takes some money to fix it all. Then b/c corps are getting too rich and repulicans say "do as I do and work as hard as I do before you TRY to tax me more"...they get voted out and then comes another liberal. And HE and his 'wife" ride the tech boom wave..until a few terrorist attacks happen...while downsizing and cutting funding for the military...then you get a Republican voted into office and he has to fix everything Billy-Bob screwed up...but he gets blamed for everything he doesn't have. Who cares if it was the previous POTUS's fault.. what a cup of sunshine Clinton was b /c he could divert funds by cutting military defense/spending (you know, that protection the soldiers should have but don't...that was CLINTON'S fault) so Clinton could have a surplus.

You all make no sense and apparently baa-baaa your way to the polls each and every time. Start thinking and analyzing for yourself. Say NO to the spoon that feeds you and start feeding yourself for once.

The stock market is way down from it's peak just over a year ago... everyone sees that in their 401K statements..

We have an astronomical national debt - it has more than doubled during Bush's 8 years... it may increase by $1.5 Trillion this year alone..

Unemployment is headed up, up, up... to probably 8.5%+...

Our standing in the world is at a very low point - we are hated far more than admired around the world...

We are in a seemingly endless, costly and needless war in Iraq....

Our infrastructure is in bad need of not just repair - but modernization...

College costs are so high that many bright people can't attend any longer - unless they join the military... not a good omen for us competing in the world economy 10 years from now...

Does anyone think that this MESS can be straightened out and the country turned around in a first Obama term???

I personally think not - that it will take at least 2 Obama terms - plus some time beyond that for the Democrats to clean up this God-awful mess that Dubya and his Republican minions have inflicted upon our once great nation.

How long do you think it will take to repair the damage Bush has done?

Is it even repairable?
Not even Bill Clinton thinks it was the Republicans that got us into this finanical crisis. The Iraq war yes. Research.

Actually Carter's recession was caused by inflation from the Vietnam war debt being added to the national debt, the Fed tightened the money flow to try to control the inflation, hitting harder than they expected. Jimmy Carter created more jobs on average than Reagan did. Reagan trys to blame Carter or congress for everything, but the fact is REAGAN created his own worse recession on toy spending and using trickle down, while cutting social services in half and sending our disabled veterans, elderly, mental patients, disabled into the street to live, then telling them, they chose to be homeless.

Congress spent less than Reagan asked them to and he STILL tried to say they were spending too much. All the while running up the tab on military toys and not taking responsibility for the cause of the inflation. Inflation comes when they PRINT money / owe national debt. All his own fault. We can NOT be a nation that does not care for our own people, veterans, disabled, sick, schools, roads and only wants to blow up others and make rich people richer. Evil, pure evil.

Under Clinton, higher paying jobs and more of them, under clinton more people had health insurance, under Clinton less abortions because more services were available for women and children, under Clinton the longest economic boom in USA history, because under a DEM congress at the beginning he was able to create an economic plan and policies that worked, not just for the rich and business but for the middle class. Under Clinton more people out of poverty, under Clinton less unemployment. Under Clinton also, MORE millionaires were created. Everyone did better under the right plan, and chart after chart shows the proof.

You simply have no idea what you talk about, and have bought into the neo-con lies that have destroyed the republican party from the inside.

It was the republicans. War, running up the national debt causes inflation add to that trickle down voodoo economics and it is a recipe for disaster. Every time the republicans use trickle down it has crashed the economy, this time is no different.

The Republicans did pretty well in the 1990's when Clinton was in office.
