Have you seen some of the Obama souvenirs they're pitching on late night tv nowadays? Commemorative plates, medallions, calendars, bobble heads, etc. Who buys these? OK I mean besides the person who draws certain names for Secret Santa...

Are you guys are keeping any souvenirs? I have to admit, I'll keep the metro pass for going to the inaugruation. They're printing special ones for the occasion.

I also kept the local paper for Nov. 5th. I wanted the local paper, not the Wall Street Journal, because it reported how Loudoun County finally tipped from red to blue. My county was one of the last to be counted, and Virginia was the state that tipped the whole election, so that's the new story I wanted to keep.

I can't quite see buying a commemorative plate--not quite my taste. Although I could appreciate the humor of driving around town with a bobble head on my dashboard.

I think the Metro pass and the newspaper/Nov. 5th would be easier to store. I just finished cleaning out several boxes of souvenirs and don't want to create more of the same.

I had a good LOL at the people in the plate commercial--I remember how the UK went all out marketing the wedding of Charles and Dianna and assume this is the same sort of thing.

I have a souvenir, a 6th anniversary commemorative Bush toilet bowl brush, but I refuse to take it out of the box as I expect it to be in ever greater demand in the future.

I will however refrain from buying any Obama plates at this time. Last thing I need is a face staring up at me while I'm eating rice a roni.

Oh, that's a keeper! Some day you may even see it displayed in the Smithsonian. I kid you not--go check out the brand new Hall of Presidents at the National American History museum. They have plenty of irreverent stuff like that on display.

I for one will be saving my Obama Biden refrigerator magnet that I received from the campaign after contributing a few bucks. It shall be hanging on my fridge for years to come.

My sister got this for me last Christmas and I about fell over laughing when I unwrapped it. Classic! I have managed to keep some nick knacks from various campaigns that I have either worked for or supported, so one day it might make good wall decorations for a man cave.

Don't tell anyone but... I have never yet been to the Smithsonian but it is definitely on my to do list. I think this is the kind of place I would enjoy getting lost in.

Oh, you'd love it. But be warned: there are more than 20 museums, and some of them are so big you'll want to visit them over a few days. The American History museum is my favorite--thousands of fascinating objects you don't usually find in museums. Everything from irreverent political kitsch to an actual tree stump from a civil war battlefield (still riddled with the bullets).

BTW, Obama has been officially added to the presidential lineup. They used a photo taken on election day. What a nice surprise to stop by this weekend and see him up already.

I had a Watergate dartboard once with all the characters drawn at strategic places around the circle. Extra points if during the same game you hit Haldemann, Erlichman, Mitchell, and Dean.

If you accomplished this lofty goal, you were also supposed to hand drinks around to everyone and sing out:

It's Haldemann, Erlichman, Mitchell, and Dean.
The way that they've acted is really obscene!

Boy, they don't make games like that anymore...
