According to the local news, looks like a high percentage of the visitors coming into town for the inauguration have arrived or will be arriving tonight. Apparently most visitors staying in hotels chose to take a long weekend (especially because many hotels offered 4 or 5-day package deals).

So far, things are going smoothly--although with this many tourists in town traffic is, of course, moving at a snail's pace.

Revised estimate is now 1 million to 1.5 million people on the mall for inauguration. That seems much more pleasant than earlier predictions.

Crowds aren't fun if you can still breathe. I rushed enough stages in my youth to know.

With the low temperatures, I bet they'll be wishing for a couple millon more to crowd around and keep them warm.

Good luck to all of you in the DC area. I hope the inauguration goes as well for you as the DNC did for us in the Denver area. We were nervous, but it was wonderful!

Some movie theaters are running it as a special show.

How interesting! The children who go will remember it all their lives.

This is a dumb thread.

I'd rather go bowling. Or make a quilt.

To have a memory like Barack being dubbed as an international GOD. Is really ridiculous.

It might be be better for your child to remember a close moment fishing, or hunting.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Democrats don't allow their children to grow up like men & women. Democrats make sure that they teach their children to be anti - American.

Tofu on Thanksgiving. Worst of all their not thankful at all.

Da UP must not have many Dems from what you are suggesting. Both of my daughters and my son grew up both hunting and fishing with me, and my older daughter can knock the bark off a deer quicker than I can (using my Randall knife, of course). My younger daughter lives on the coast in Folly Beach and fishes regularly.

We DID have a tofu turkey for Thanksgiving, for our vegan guests. Salty, but not bad. I also smoked a regular turkey.

You should get out more and try something different for a change. Like Obama. He's no turkey, but his election is certainly something we're all thankful for.

So go make a quilt. Or do some scrapbookking. I'm a dem, and I do both of those, also made my daughter's prom dress, drapes for the family room, lots of other stuff. You need to get out of your comfort zone and meet some real Dems.
