For those who like their polling from Gallup and want one of today's polling results. The approval ratings for how the stimulus has been handled is:
Obama Has Upper Hand in Stimulus Fight
Obama- 67&
Democrats- 48%
Republican's- 31%

I am sure some are going WTF and will bring up another poll. But make sure you read the poll results as neither pro or con may have a majority as there might be a sizable undecided population.

I think you mean Feb 9th...nonetheless the poll makes a point, it would be in the Republican's best interest to stop listening to buffoons like Limbaugh or Hannity and work with Obama.

This poll means nothing. It indicates that Americans would rather have the stimulus handled by the President; ergo the approval rating for the stimulus itself is below average.

Republicans being like democrats is what cost republicans. It's time to get back to their values and I dont really see Obama trying to work with republicans with comments like I won blah blah blah

Interesting poll out today from CNN..

Obama has a 76% approval rating

Stimulus package is favored by 54%

The Democratic leadership in Congress has a 60% approval rating compared to the Republican leaders at 44% approval.

Respondents said by 74%-25% that Obama is doing enough to cooperate with Republicans, while they say by a 60%-39% margin that Republicans are NOT doing enough to cooperate with him.

Poll finds Obama more popular than his stimulus package - CNN.com

I suggest you read the article with the poll, and also read accompanying poll showing stimulus support

The fact of these polls is that Obama is getting high marks. The stimulus is not. . . in fact Rasmussen has the stimulus in free fall:

Rasmussen Reportsâ„¢: The Most Comprehensive Public Opinion Site. (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/economic_stimulus_package/support_for_stimulus_package_falls_to_37 - broken link)

"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 37% favor the legislation, 43% are opposed, and 20% are not sure."

It's almost hysterically funny to read how many fall for the solution to economic trouble to be just more spending.

Poll finds Obama more popular than his stimulus package - CNN.com
While the president puts on a full-court press, the debate over the $800 billion-plus bill -- which includes increased government spending and tax cuts -- appears to have split the public. A slight majority, 54 percent, favors the bill; 45 percent are opposed.

Gallup.Com - Daily News, Polls, Public Opinion on Government, Politics, Economics, Management
56%
say money for education is one of the most important things to include in the economic stimulus plan.

A majority of Americans (51%) agree that passing such a bill is critically important to improving the nation’s economy

That poll is a tad dated as polling goes. It was released February 4. The poll also has a 20% undecided.
