I'm a former Catholic. Entire family is still Catholic. I'm very familiar with Catholic doctrine (to the point of revulsion). Bush is more out of line with Catholicism than Obama is. Bush supports the death penalty (opposed by the Catholic church), and Bush invaded Iraq (opposed by the Catholic church), yet Bush gets an honorary degree from Notre Dame without fanfare, while Obama's honorary degree is hounded with controversy over the single issue of abortion. Where were these loudmouths who oppose Obama's presence at Notre Dame on the issue of sex abuses committed by Catholic priest-pedophiles? I suppose the logic must be: don't abort those fetuses so when they grow up, they can be fondled by their local priest then sent to Iraq and beheaded by Al qaida.

Obama supports the death penalty. Obama supports war. The only thing Obama has the upper hand on is healthcare and possibly immigration.

Bush is by far more of a Catholic favorite.

That exposes the hypocrisy of anti-Obama protesters even more. How come they are not protesting his supposed pro-death penalty and pro-war stance?

I am in favor of helping women not have unwanted pregnancies but realize that my religious background can not be forced onto other Americans. How would we feel if "Sharia Law" was imposed on us? I hope abortions will lower w/ better birth control\ education. Bush did nothing to stop abortion. No Republican president has promoted ending Roe vs Wade. Obama, like Clinton, agrees that women should be the one to call the shots.

W Bush gladly executed hundreds of convicts like no other governor or president. Bush\ Cheney are responsible for the thousands of death in a contrived\ immoral war & then vetoed funding to assist the wound solders & provide GI assistance. These are moral upstanding people?

Abortion, gay marriage. Fairly black and white issues. War and social programs are not....

FYI.
Bush received an honorary law degree from Notre Dame on May 20, 2001.
So, let's call it even.

Default Neither are Catholic so what does it matter?

This is another absolutely absurd thread.
Neither are Catholic, so the thread is ridiculous.

Religion is, or should be, a personal matter.

Yes, I await the outrage.
