Actually, in essense that is exactly what will he will be saying to a large majority of people who have private coverage through their employer now. If it will be cheaper for the employer to pay the extra "tax" rather than providing private insurer coverage, their employees will have to take the government, substandard healthcare.

You mean how will folks understand how much it will cost?

I guess many people don't understand the word "option." These must be the same people who are calling a Black man Hitler or putting socialism & fascism on the same protest signs.
justNancy. Are you sixteen? Do you know what "paying taxes" means?

Healthcare "option"? If you are indeed an adult, you should know better than to accuse Americans of not knowing a pile of crap when they see it.

Hitler? With your approval, have you ever seen an American President so aligned with my way or the highway?

Socialism is this community organizor's goal.

Apparently you haven't read all the posts I've written about Medicare, since I sold Medicare supplements for years. I never said Medicare was perfect and I know how difficult it is for many people living on fixed incomes to get by. I was only talking about the people on Medicare who are saying that the government shouldn't get involved in health care. I understand their concerns, but I still don't see why that means other Americans shouldn't have health care. I've written so much about this that I don't want to keep repeating myself, but not only struggling seniors are on Medicare. There are many people who are very well off getting Medicare while families with children have to decide between a trip to the doctor or groceries. That's why we need health care for all Americans and shouldn't be debating whose life is more important.

The legislation before the HOR is 1000 + pages - it is complex - and is one of the most far reaching pieces of legislation to ever affect the American People.

There are MANY provisions of the legislation that are without specific definitions i.e. "the Secretary will determine ....." that need to be defined BEFORE passage.

This legislation is something that if it were to become law would literally impact life or death from Day one.

It needs to be PERFECT from the start - not something that we go back and "fix" or "tweak" to get it right. In other words, we need to have - to take - the time to get it right.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO RUSH this legislation - NONE. The Congress needs to take whatever time it needs to debate, meet, modify etc - without having an artificial time table put in front of them to meet.

My question is; What's the rush? What is the President and the Democrats trying to hide? Perhaps nothing. BUT, whats the rush?

Think you're the one who's 16, because you apparently don't remember that Bill Clinton ended up not only eliminating the deficit & achieving a balanced budget, but left office with a $5.5 trillion budget SURPLUS which Bush & friends blew and then left us in debt. So now you're crying that spending money is socialism and I'm supposed to agree that makes sense? Clinton took the mess Bush 41 left us and turned our nation around. Unemployment was the lowest in decades and our economy was booming. Oh, by the way, he also increased taxes....just in case you didn't know.

Was that Clinton or the [Republican-written] Balanced Budget Amendment which Clinton at first refused to sign, then took credit for the Amendment?

What mess did Bush 41 leave Clinton? Clinton did not inherit a recession, but G.W. Bush did.

Oh, by the way, that was a Democrat-proposed tax hike. Bush 41 would not sign it, but [and this was one of his biggest blunders] then agreed to if the Democrats would add a few things in the bill Bush 41 wanted. Well, the tax hike passed, but Bush 41 never did get what he wanted in the bill.

As usual, Democrats just say things that aren't true. Bill Clinton is as self controlled as a monkey in a banana shop. Even Hillary hates him. Why does she stay with him? Because she is a S_L_U_T in love with his money. They both should be in prison.

I'm really impressed with your patriotism. You want to pay higher taxes ( or at least have someone else pay higher taxes ) to insure illegal aliens.

A bunch of Democrats on the hill are spending money like drunken sailors. I think Nancy Pelosi is drunk half of the time anyway. That in it's self does not make them socialists. But, they are in favor of socialist legislation. You trust Democratic leaders too much. You're a sucker.

Now is not the time to be spending another couple of trillion dollars. Actually, this Healthcare plan should never be accepted by the American people.

You might want to spend money we don't have. But, you are on the side of the fence that believes that spending is the way out of a hole.

What?

I'm beginning to sound like Joe Biden.
