Not really. Obama wasn't confused about the number of states in this country. He was talking about the lower 48 and said he had campaigned in all 57 and had one to go. It was obvious to me he meant 47. Old news.

You just proved my point. A man can go to several debates, town meetings and even volunteer to televise an unscripted 90 minute Q&A dialogue with his opponents (and he did a great job) but people will still say he doesn't know 3rd grade geography.

Edit: I'm just curious. How were you able to quote something I deleted several hours earlier?
However, thanks. It's a great video! I deleted it because I didn't want to overstate my case.

Have no idea. You missed my point entirely, which is that anyone in the public eye can make less than intelligent remarks...doesn't make them less than intelligent. Leadership is not totally dependent on IQ either. If so, Einstein would have been a great world leader, but I think anyone that knows much about him would say that would not be his strength. Leadership and managment skills are aided by intelligence but not exclusively dependent on it.

No, I didn't. Don't you think Palin has had enough chances to prove herself? At first I often defended her, but she rarely has anything of substance to say and her speeches are always full of the same rhetoric. She can't answer questions. I never said she was an idiot, since she's a lot richer than I am. However, she is very uneducated about our country's history and knows little about foreign affairs. I mean, you can't possibly say that Glenn Beck and Katie Couric both asked "gotcha" questions. There has to be a point when even her supporters look at Palin and say "you know, she just doesn't know much."

Anyway, I deleted that video because I realize how easy it is for a person to get caught off guard and these were just people at a book signing event. However, the Pubs posted a video of Obama supporters that showed they couldn't discuss the issues. It was all over the web after he won the election. So I guess it's okay if you're a Republican?

By the way, the woman I mentioned in my earlier post wasn't stupid. I never used that word. I said she didn't know the facts. She had no idea Ronald Reagan was against Medicare. She didn't realize the Republicans fought FDR on Social Security. She didn't like Obama and said he was a socialist trying to destroy America. She'd say she didn't want the government involved in her health care decisions and then she complained that Medicare didn't cover one of her office visits. Living in Florida, I've met a lot of seniors who cry that they don't want any government funded programs and yet they're all on Social Security and Medicare.

They were forced to pay into it, why shouldn't they get their money back?

Where did I say that? Show me, please!

I didn't say people shouldn't get Social Security benefits or Medicare. I was pointing out that Social Security and Medicare are programs run by the government. Of course I want to get my Social Security check. I'll be one of "them" soon.

Also, it's not true that everyone on Medicare paid for it. There are so many different ways to become eligible. I edited my post because it would take too long to get into detail.

However, if at 65 you only worked a total of 40 quarters (10 years) in your entire life, you can receive benefits. Unlike Social Security, your benefits are not based on your contributions or the number of years you worked, as long as you or your spouse worked the minimum required. Someone who paid into the system for 44 years gets the same Medicare benefits as someone who worked for 10 years. So, in other words, let's say I've worked for the past 40 years and I'm 58. I'm not eligible (unless I am on SSID or have end stage renal disease) but someone 65 who worked for 10 years and then goofed off can go on Medicare. If your spouse worked for 10 years and paid into the system, then both of you are covered at age 65. So a woman can marry a man who only worked 10 years in his entire life and they're both eligible. A 60 year old couple who each worked 44 years (a total of 88 years) years isn't eligible for Medicare and, if not covered by group benefits, has to pay very high insurance premiums, if they can even get health insurance.

EDIT: Since this thread is about Sarah Palin's endorsement of Rand Paul, I shouldn't continue or it will be off-topic. I was only reacting to a post that took my words out of context. I was simply saying that being against any government interference in health care while receiving Medicare benefits is a bit hypocritical. I'll rant on another thread that deals with health care however!

rand paul is a good choice for actual change in this country and he would certainly get my vote if i lived in his state. you can't control who endorses you and it doesn't really make a difference to the voters. obama won the presidential election, but the candidates he endorsed have all lost their respective elections anyhow.
I agree. Palin definitely lost some cred with the announcement she would campaign for McCain, I was very disappointed to hear it. I think Rand Paul is a good man and hope he wins.

I just quoted your post, I have no idea how the video clip was there. I still don't think you get my point, but let's just let it be. I am not a big Palin supporter, I do not think she is ready to be President, but I do think she is given a bad deal by the media and those on the left. I don't understand why, except that they are threatened by her. She does have charisma and she stirs up something that they would rather remain unstirred...I guess?

When did she say she would support McCain? I am not doubting it, just want to see it. I think that is crazy, but I think she just might be saying that to be loyal. I personally wouldn't mind to see McCain lose his seat to J.D. Hayworth. Rand Paul is from the city I live in and I am not 100% sold on him either.

If she wants to remain in the political spotlight, she should be able to take the criticism. Yes, I believe she's gotten a lot of unfair press, but who hasn't? Do you think Hillary Clinton was treated any better? Yet Hillary is a brilliant scholar who was at the top of her class at Wellesley and has a very impressive list of achievements. The following video shows that when anyone hinted that Hillary was criticized too harshly by the media, Palin called her a whiner. Quote from Palin about Clinton: "She does herself a disservice for even mentioning it." (the excess criticism) Quote from Palin: "Fair or unfair, it's a reality." Yet when Sarah can't answer simple questions, she's being attacked by the media? Seriously, she couldn't even talk about our Founding Fathers to Glenn Beck. At least she knows who the first president of the United States was. Guess she remembers getting his birthday off from school.

I didn't hear her say she would support McCain, I saw a CGI crawl at the bottom of a news report saying she would campaign for McCain in March. I would not mind seeing Hayworth take the senate seat in Arizona, but I think I would like to see Simcox take it more.
