Since then, the Federal Reserve has become front and center since the economy is in the cr@pper. Guess who's for it and who's against it?
Dude, the economy was worse in November then it is now and on top of that only to a few people is the Federal Reserve front and center. To most people jobs are front and center. I assure you that most people care much more about finding and keeping their jobs around here then they do about interest rates and inflation.
As far as the comparisons to Massachusetts, a bit of a difference exists between an open race in a Special election and your typical midterm with a well established incumbent. Not to mention NC-4 was actually a little stronger for Obama than Massachusetts. A reason exists why this race isn't even on the radar of ANY of those making predictions for 2010, not Rothenberg, not Sabato, not Cook. no one. Its safe.
I sincerely hope the complacency remains among the Price apologists. That kind of attitude is doing wonders for Perry and Hutchinson in TX and did wonders for Coakley in MA. Him not showing up to the radio debate today while federal offices were closed is truly a blessing.

A shame I didn't get to hear how Price proposes to help the economy out as he didn't show up for today's interview with his potential opponents. I guess he can afford to be contemptuous of his lowly serfs and count on them to pull the lever for him.

And for what reason would Price need to get involved in a GOP Primary battle??
There is NO seat that is safe for any liberal candidate.
We found that out with the Kennedy seat.
The dems are in trouble but yet still believe it was a fluke.
With only 20% of Americans being liberal, every single lib seat is in deep poo right now.
Independents have LEFT the dem party as shown in Mass.
Recent poll shows 80% of ALL Americans do not trust this democratic controlled congress.
The GOP will pick up seats, but a special election for an open seat in a Democratic state does not = that no safe seats exists, nor does it = that traditional liberal seats will all of a sudden become competitive. The districts that will be competitive are either seats held by Democrats in districts that lean GOP, in marginal districts, perhaps a few (though not many) Dem leaning districts might be vulnerable. Strong Dem districts which Obama won by 27 points, are not vulnerable, especially with a well entrenched incumbent.

It's interesting that in our discourse you haven't really made one argument as to Price's stance on the issues. Merely, you kept reverting to "his seat is safe" and words like "entrenched incumbent" speak volumes of the contempt Price and his supporters have for the 4th district of NC. Keep it up, oh please keep it up!
Also, many of the transplants like my fiancee are moderates and have swayed oh so quickly from the Obama-Price crowd to either sitting it out or voting the other way. It's much more fun to hang out at home and eat a pizza than it is to stand in the cold and vote for someone you're only mildly supporting.

Job Bill, Stimulus package, healthcare reform, tax cut for small business. Following the Party of No's policies and slamming Obama sure as hell isn't going to resonate in this district. It might help elsewhere, it might help in some open races, it might help in a Special Election district, its not going to work in a midterm race, with an 11 term incumbent in an Obama +27 district. Lawson might cut the margin a little bit, but not even remotely close enough to make this competitive. You don't lose by almost 30 points, and come back and win when you run again, it just doesn't work that way. If the psycho Roche gets the nomination he loses by even more than the thumping Lawson got last time.

It was an open debate and the host sent an invitation. Price refused.
