I agree with you. I have realtives who live in New Jersey, Rhode Island, Mass, and New York, they do not paint a pretty picture as some on here do. In fact, just today, my Aunt, told me things are not looking good out there in the East Coast. Jobs are not easy to come by, the economy in all those States, my Aunts, say suck right now, and they have a housing situation going on also, bad as out here, they sill are having a lot of houses not selling, My Aunt in NJ told me one house has been for sale for over a year, still has not sold, also in R.I. one home over 1 year, just will not sell, a lot of foreclosures, and that is in all 4 Sates. But Ca is a much larger State. Trust me, Obama is and will never be our Savior. He brings new meaning to the word CLUELESS. And the change he was talking about, was after he became President, Many would be looking in the pockets, for what ever change they could find.

My dad owns a small business in California and he says business has picked up a little. Most of my family is doing alright. My uncle got laid off but he did the smart thing and started a 401K plan years ago and he's fine. I work in the private sector at a small business and it's picked up drastically since last year. Maybe it's just me but things seem to be getting better. And keep in mind housing is usually the last thing to pick up in economic recoveries.

Does this surprise you? It doesn't me!!!! This isn't the first thing he has said or done that has many saying< OMG, what's next?

Remember there is hope for 2012, remember back in 92, we saw a PResident lose for a couple reasons, one was the famous phrase "read my lips, no new taxes"

When is trickles down to you, how are you going to feel then? Are you going to say, it's ok, others have done it..??

He doesn't just lie behind your back, he lies straight to your face.

No different than John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Bush 1, Nixon and LBJ.

At least Bush did what he said he was going to do. You may have not liked it, but he was honest about it.
WMD was not a Bush lie, the Senate & Congress, along with the President, were misinformed, or were a day late and a dollar short. The guy used WMD on his own people, after Desert Storm.

Bush worked across party lines and that may have been why the crash of 08.
Had he been more conservative than progressive, he may have caught what was going on with Bernanke and his employer, Goldman & Sacs, along with Freddie & Fannie.

Nmnita, how is it going to trickle down to me? As we learned in the 1980s the rich don't dictate the economy and as we learned in the 1930s, working class people like myself are the backbone of the economy. It's better we have money than the fiscal elites.

BentBow, Bush has deliberately lied. And unlike the other presidents mentioned (outside of Nixon), his lies are responsible for many deaths.

How would I know for sure. Currently I reside with my family in Las Vegas Nevada. Its much, much worse here then it was 2 yrs ago. Tons of lay-offs lately, housing keeps dropping, crime on the rise! Tons and tons of stores closing. Personally I do not see any improvement. Now, I understand and know these things take time, but i feel the stimulus was an excuse to eventually tax the middle class. How can we produce jobs when they are all being sent to China and other countries. Like I said, I really hope obama can help/heal America. I just don't think they have that in mind for us. I say its all a scam. Not sure exactly what they want. Socialism? Communism? I don't know! But somethings up! We do not agree on much, if anything. But if your doing well then awesome!
Hmmm, but Las Vegas was uniquely poised to take the brunt of this type of downtown anyway. Las Vegas depends mainly on housing construction and tourist traffic mainly in the form of casinos. As such it is no big surprise that it continues to suffer. Until the real-estate market improves with an increase in tourist traffic, Las Vegas will continue to suffer. This situation has more to do with the overall recession than the individual president or party in control, and contrary to what some would like to believe, recessions do not correct themselves quickly.
