If I'm not mistaken, didn't just about everyone lose that Obama had campaigned for?

Of Course Specter was promised that Obama would support and campaign for him didn't help him one bit.

Why is that the biggest? Doesn't each congressperson get one vote?

Could history be repeating itself?
You are a ittle confused , again upton, Clinton was reelected because he very shrewdly, signed on , co-opted and called his own, much of what the very popular new GOP congress, led by Gingrich with the CFA, was doing. Clinton saw the light after 1994 and sent Hillary to the kitchen to bake cookies abandon all his leftist base and headed right. TFBPOTUS, may have already dug too deep of a hole for that to work for him.

My opinion and it is just that, an opinion, Obama has dug himself in, with his stand on the immigrant issue if nothing else. He is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If he backs down and takes a stand against illegals every Hispanic that wants to see illegals be allowed to stay will say he sold them out, if he tries to pass any bill giving amnesty or doesn't take a stronger stand regarding the border, he is going to lose support even from much of his base..

Not anymore.

A true blue seat in the home (?) of the president.

Don't forget Brown in that list.

I'm not sure that's the way it goes. If Obama gets tough on illegal immigration (which will never happen), he will lose some support from Latinos. However, it's not really true that passage of amnesty will lead to huge Latino support for Obama or that failure of amnesty will lead to Latinos moving away from Obama. My sense is that a very significant percentage of Latinos oppose amnesty, but the media makes it seems like you have to support open borders in order to do well with Latinos.

OTOH, Obama's base (the kooks on the far left fringe) WANT open borders. If Obama passes amnesty with weak border security, that should please his base. He may lose support from the more traditional (D) types, but the lunatic fringe that makes up his base will be happy.
