Women who have thin upper lips or lips that don't have the right shape tend to do this a lot. Redraw the lip line to something more pleasing and then fill in with lipstick. Usually looks great in pictures or from a distance but can be disconcerting up close and personal.
My lips are uneven, so on the rare occasion I wear lipstick I will try to even them out a bit by drawing a slightly higher curve on one side, outside my natural lip line.
Slightly OT, speaking of lipstick, how do the actresses keep theirs on during kissing or eating scenes. I look closely after such scenes (especially kissing), and the lipstick stays - no smears, nothing.
