Yeah facebook is just a glorified shrine to how boring you are. Don't even get me started on twitter.

i disagree. with the exception of the 60s and 00s. the 50s lasted until 63 and the 90s until 04-05.

I don't think the 2000's decade has solidified its style yet. Perhaps we'll find out sometime in the next five years.

I think the 90s lasted until about 01. 04 and 05 were definitely the new millennium and felt like it.

Me and a couple of my friends were talking, and we figured out another thing...or gave our opinion as to one of the big things that will define the forthcoming decade.

I can't remember the one in the chat, but I think that this decade will have LOADS and loads of those "go watch someone do their job" shows. It started out pretty big, but now its down to like Mall Cops and stuff, and this hasn't even been a huge fad for too long. I really think it's going to get ridiculous in the 2010s though. But hell, I'd watch someone do the generic, nothing special, job at McDonalds before I'd watch anything on VH1 or Jersey Show...

Exactly. They never begin and end exactly at the '0.

When I look back on the 00's I honestly dont see much defining characteristics like even the 90's had. There were a few standout things in pop culture as well as some VERY popular movies and music, but none of it really stood out and defined the decade.

I look at the 00's as the age of surveillance....when big brother got the license (Patriot Act) to snoop into everyones business whenever they felt like it.

Surveillance societies are always rather ill creatures when compared to free societies. Think E German vs W Germany. Think America in 2010 vs America in 1970.

People will continue to lose their identity and uniqueness as those who still express it are labeled as weirdos, misfits, terrorist, yada, yada.

Cars, clothes, homes, physiques, and personalities will proceed on the path to blandness.
